The Daily Teaser — 3-6-2014: John Dykstra

Hmmm …

OK, I’m up, comparatively early.

Just in case you didn’t notice … !

There’s a reason for that.

I’ve been signed up for the government’s Mandatory Work Placement Scheme.

Run for them, by a quango called SEETEC, over in Basildon: where I have to be by 9:30.

Hence the early start.

Speaking personally?   Well, frankly, I’m not expecting much in the way of help.

SEETEC may have improved its services and staff in the six months since I left the Work Programme.

Somehow, though … ?

I doubt it.

We’ll see what happens, shall we?

~≈W≈~
Yesterday’s Teaser saw no-one putting in her answers: but DID see Debbi* letting us know she’s having to take time off to concentrate on editing and writing!

So let’s see who we can persuade to try today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 3rd June, 1947, saw the birth of Special Effects man, John Dykstra.   Which 1982 Clint Eastwood film did Dykstra work on … ?
Q2) He was ALSO chief special effects supervisor for Industrial Light and Magic: famously winning a Special Effects Oscar for which George Lucas film … ?
Q3) Dykstra also worked on Battlestar Galactica: how many series did that original version run for … ?
Q4) John Dykstra supervised the effects for the 2002 version of Spiderman.   Who played Spiderman in that version … ?
Q5) Finally … Dykstra was Senior Visual Effects Designer for which mousey 1999 movie … ?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 2nd June, 1953, saw the coronation of Elizabeth 2nd.   Name any of the Commonwealth realms she’s queen of: APART from the UK …
A1) They’re listed here: and include Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Solomon Isles and Tuvalu.
Q2) 2nd June, 1946, saw the birth of notorious serial killer, Peter Sutcliffe: more notoriously known as whom … ?
Q3) More to the point, how many woman was he convicted of murdering, at his 1981 trial?
A3) 13.
Q4) 2nd June, 1994, saw an RAF Chinook helicopter crash in the Mull of Kintyre: including several senior officers from the UK’s counter-intelligence agency.   What’s that agency called?
A4) The Security Service: also known as MI5.
Q5) 2nd June, 1966, saw NASA land the Surveyor 1: where … ?
A5) The Moon.
Q6) Finally … 2nd June, 1976, saw the Derby won, for a record seventh time: by which English jockey … ?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Film, as far as I’m concerned, is my area of artistic endeavor, so I never think of a movie that gets released as being all done-it’s just when they took it away from you.”
John Dykstra, born June 3rd, 1947.
And this … um … thing …

Have a good day.

*        That’s cool, Debbi!   It’s been lovely having you as THE regular!   (Please feel free to keep coming back … !)

If you saw me at the Bus stop in Norman Crescent, where I was waiting for the 09.03 #9 which starts there , you would not have got to Basildon for 09.30. Tuesday is dustbin day in Billericay and that slows down the buses.

Actually, I got the 8:40, Trevor, which I figured would get me to Basildon in time.

I’d ALSO alerted SEETEC, who run the mandatory Work placement scheme.

They’ve known for some time that their non-driving, Brentwood-based clients have issues.

Mostly where one little sod complained until he was blue in the face, until they actually GOT THE HINT … !

Can’t think who that was.
