The Daily Teaser — 27-12-2014

You know, I’m going to HAVE to have a look at that flash drive!

32 gigabytes and the thing’s seemingly having trouble recording TV.

Although, frankly … ?

The weather’s possibly not helping, there.

And I can’t complain TOO much: after all, it WAS a Christmas present!

And HAS got last night’s edition of QI on it: with Carrie Fisher!

Princess Leia’s on QI!   What’s not to love?!

~≈®≈~

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring 4½ out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 28th December, 2014, saw Iowa admitted as the 29th state of the USA.   Iowa is the only US state with rivers on its borders.   Name one of those rivers.
Q2) 28th December, 1993, saw the UK’s Customs and Excise Service seize £70 million pounds worth of Cocaine.   The coke had been smuggled in from which South American country?
Q3) 28th December, 1885, saw the founding of the Indian National Congress: one of the oldest political parties on Earth.   Who’s the party’s current president?
Q4) During the Arab Spring, 28th December, 2010, saw popular protest begin: in which North African country?
Q5) Finally … 28th December, 1969, saw the birth of Linus Torvalds, creator of the Linux kernel.   What’s the world’s most widely used Linux based operating system?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 27th December, 2004, saw Viktor Yushchenko win a hotly contested presidential election: in which East European country?
A1) Ukraine.   (Can anyone else remember when it was The Ukraine?)
Q2) This was known as what: the Red Revolution, Orange Revolution or Yellow Revolution?
Q3) 27th December, 1977, saw the original Star Wars film hit UK screens.   What’s the name of the new episode in the franchise, due for release in 2015?
Q4) 27th December, 1945, saw the creation of the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund.   The two organizations were founded by 29 nations, at a conference in Bretton Woods.   Bretton Woods is in which US State?
Q5) Finally … 27th December, 1966, saw the discover of the Cave of The Swallows: the world’s largest cave.   The Cave’s in which country … ?
A5) Mexico.
I’ll leave you with this song …

And this thought …
“All the people in Star Trek will always be known as those characters. And what characters to have attached to your name in life! The show is such a phenomenon all over the world.”

Nichelle Nichols, born 28th December, 1932.
Have a good day … !

*        Don’t worry, I was only half serious! (I’d be able to pick something up cheaply, over here: and I’m none too sure a US one would work with UK electricity.)   Oh, sorry about the score, by the way: but strictly speaking the /new Star Wars film doesn’t have an episode number in the title.   (The official website for the film is ‘http://www.starwars.com/films/star-wars-episode-vii-the-force-awakens’.   But THEN tells us the film is called Star Wars: The Force Awakens.   Go figure!)
