The Daily Teaser — 2-1-2016: Isaac Asimov

I’m going to be stuck indoors, today.

Waiting for an Amazon delivery*: an internal hard drive, if you must know!

The thing that gets me?   Is that they tried delivering the thing on Thursday.

But couldn’t, for some reason.

I can’t see why, I was in at the time the delivery was made: and happy to take the thing.

If I’ve understood the web-page, correctly?   They tried delivery at 15:25 … on my day off!

When I was in …

That’s …

Well, puzzling.   And rather frustrating …

I hate being stuck indoors …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here’s today’s Isaac Asimov themed questions: along with the How ToLicense and video

Q1) 2nd January saw the birth of science fiction writer, Isaac Asimov.   In which year of the 1920s?
Q2) Asimov was born in which Communist country?
Q3) Famously, Asimov wrote stories about robots.   The first of his Three Laws of Robotic, stated that a robot may not harm whom?
Q4) Those robots had positronic what?
Q5) Asimov wrote a series of novels and short stories: about which ‘F’?
Q6) Isaac Asimov wrote a short story called The Bicentennial Man.   Who played the main character, in the 1999 film version of The Bicentennial Man?
Q7) Asimov was not only a science fiction writer: but a biochemist.   He was a Professor of Biochemistry at which US university?

Q9) Asimov wrote children’s novels about space ranger, David Starr.   Starr is ALSO know as which ‘L’?
Q10) Finally … the Asimov crater was named after Isaac Asimov.   The crater is on which planet?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) The NHL Winter Classic is usually on New Year’s Day.   The NHL, and the Winter Classic, are in what sport?
A1) Ice Hockey.
Q2) Which country of Great Britain DIDN’T start celebrating New Year’s Day, on 1st January, 1752?
A2) Scotland.   I believe it’s to do with the fact that England and Wales went from the Julian to the Greogorian calendar: but Scotland didn’t, until a few years later.
Q3) Enkutatash is usually celebrated on or around the 11th of September.   Enkutatash is the New Year’s Day of which African country?
A3) Ethiopia.
Q4) New Year’s Day is ALSO which of the Twelve Days of Christmas: the sixth, seventh or eighth?
A4) The eighth.
Q5) Finally … Seollal is New Year’s Day: in which East Asian country’s lunar calendar?
A5) South — or North — Korea’s.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“My real education, the superstructure, the details, the true architecture, I got out of the public library.”
Isaac Asimov.
And this song …

Have a good day …

*        Yes, I know we can ask Amazon to leave any deliveries with a neighbour: in fact, I’ve had the option set up for some time.   But as I don’t start work until 16:30?   I can wait indoors.

†        I should do, Olga, shouldn’t I … ?   On the other hand, I keep thinking life’s too short!   I DID manage to get the unlimited broadband usage for only a few pounds more than I was paying.   It’s swings and roundabouts, isn’t it?

‡        Good luck with THAT one, Debbi!   (I know EXACTLY how hard monetising a blog is!)
