27th January, 2021.
Right … it’s a Wednesday …
A Wednesday after I’ve had a dentist appointment: I had a filling, if you’re curious.
I’ve managed to bag a hygienist appointment, as well.
And an Amazon delivery.
More Marmite*, so you know.
And — amongst other things — a pair of toenail clippers, a blu-ray, some soda crystal — my drains need cleaning — a cuddly toy, a copy of Killing for Company … …
And a copy of k. d. lang’s Ingénue: effectively, disc one of the version on Spotify.
It is still one hell of an album.
And Miss Chatelaine? Possibly one of the best love songs going …
Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor†, Olga‡, Mum^, and Debbiª putting in their answers: with Trevor and Debbie scoring ten out of ten, Olga on nine and Mum on seven.
The day also saw Edithº leaving us a message.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1) Charles Lutwidge Dodgson was born on 27th January, 1832. His novels about a little girl called Alice were written under which pen name?Q2) The Paris Peace Accords were signed on 27th January, 1973. Smith was born on 27th January, 1850. He went down with his ship, on 15th April, 1912. Which ship?Q5) Finally … 27th January is the feast day of Saint Sava. Sava’s the patron saint of where: Serbia, Croatia or Montenegro?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Here’s a thought …
“I’m as close to totally neurotic as you can get without being totally neurotic.”Bridget Fonda, born January 27, 1964.
And a song …
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.
Have a good day.
* My idea of food heaven? Toast, with Marmite. Food hell, on the other hand? Toast … without Marmite.
† There’s always that one, Trevor, isn’t there? 😀
‡ Oh, HECK! It sounds like Michigan wants to make a body’s job difficult, Olga! And I think those leagues count as ‘minor,’ or ‘Little,’ Leagues: I’ll try and run it past Debbiª, as she’s a fan.
Yep, the appointment went ahead: I’ve now got a filling, and didn’t even need an anaesthetic. But, lord, the vibrating noises clear your sinuses! They’ve managed to book me up with a hygienist, as well: which is good.
As for biased journalism … ! Yep: that sounds about right. I don’t think Jeremy Paxman’s too biased … but he IS a card carrying member of the Labour Party. (And the writers for classic Dr Who were just as biased. I get the impression they were a little more evenly split, though.)
^ Hello, Mum!
ª Yep, Iggy and the gang from Michigan, Debbi. Would that mean them Michiganers, or Michiganese? I DO know ‘Iggy,’ is short for Iguana: the nickname he picked up in his first band. It seems entirely appropriate! Oh, and did you know he crops up in a Deep Space Nine episode called The Magnificent Ferengi? He plays a Vorta.
Oh, JUST so Olga and I know? Those baseball teams in yesterday’s Teaser, are they what’s called Minor/Little League teams? The Lugnuts, Bombers and Unicorns?
º Hiya, Edith! Any day with you on the blog is a good day … !

Just as a last thought?
I bought the CD version of Ingénue from Amazon: as it was both cheaper, and wasn’t the 25th Anniversary version, with bonus tracks I didn’t want.
I’m using a Mac using macOS version 11.1 Big Sur: which uses the Music app, rather than the older iTunes app.
Thankfully? The Music app can still import songs from a CD
A1 Lewis Carroll
A2 Vietnam War
A3 Nevada
A4 RMS Titanic
A5 Serbia
Seeing the Titanic in the answers reminds me of yesterday afternoon when I looked out of the back bedroom window and saw 3 Icebergs in the raised bird bath in the back garden.
Last night’s rain and the rise in temperature means they have gone this morning.
Q1) Lewis Carroll
Q2) The Vietnam War
Q3) Nevada
Q4) The RMS Titanic
Q5) Serbia
I agree with your comment about k.d. Lang and her songs. For some reason, I've always assumed the little leagues were never professional and where young kids or teenagers, but I'm not sure where I got the idea from. Checking here, that seems to be the case, so I'm not sure the question would be correct (as I'm not sure you'd define them as such). They are also non-profit, according to this article...

Good news about the dentist as well.
I quite liked Paxman and his style of questioning. He would insist, insist and insist and never let anyone off.

I'd probably call them Michiganers. Maybe. :)
And Minor League is the proper term for the pro teams. They also refer to it as the "farm system". Players can start there and move up to the Big Leagues, aka, Major Leagues. Probably dates back to the early days. Little League is for minor children. :)
