Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-7-2021: Wyoming

10th July, 2021.

Yes: it’s Saturday.

And yes: that means things are happening.

Personally … ?

I’m tempted to do a little light shopping: although there’s little I need.

Bar some cash on my electricity.

The pleasure getting rained on for the past few days … ?

Means the lights come on relatively earlier … !

Oh … you’ve realised I’ve read the occasional Iain M. Banks Culture novel: and thoroughly enjoyed them.

You’re ALSO aware the entrepreneur, Elon Musk, is a fan: naming a couple of his landing platforms after Culture ships.

Turns out that couple is now three ships: his most recent one has been demonstrated … and is called the A Shortfall of Gravitas.

It’s about time …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum†, Edith‡ and Debbi^, putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum and Edith on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        Wyoming joined the USA on 10th July: of which year of the 1890s?

Q2)        It was which star to do so: the 42nd, 43rd or 44th?

Q3)        It’s known as the what state: Coyboy State, Cowboy State or Codboy state?

Q4)        Wyoming’s capital is named after one of America’s native peoples.   Which native peoples?

Q5)        No member of that tribe call Wyoming’s one Reservation — the Wind River Indian Reservation — home.   Name either one of the two tribes that do.

Q6)        Wyoming has a what on its flag: a bison, an eagle or a groundhog?

Q7)        Wyoming is bordered by six other states.   Name one of them.

Q8)        Wyoming has two US National Parks.   Grand Teton National Park is one.   What’s the other?

Q9)        Parts of The Outlaw Josey Wales was filmed in Wyoming.   Who directed The Outlaw Josey Wales: Sam Peckinpah, Clint Eastwood or the Honourable Sarah Ward?

Q10)        Finally … ?   Devils Tower is a monument in Wyoming.   It was used in which Steven Spielberg film: Jaws, ET: The Extraterrestrial or Close Encounters of the Third Kind?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Tom Hanks was born on 9th July.   Of which year of the 1950s?
A1)        1956.

Q2)        He voices Woody in a well known series of Disney-Pixar films.   What’s the name of the first film?
A2)        Toy Story.

Q3)        He won a Best Actor Oscar in 1994: for the 1993 film, Philadelphia.   He won his second Best Actor Oscar in 1995.   For which 1994 film?
A3)        Forrest Gump.   (As is usual, each year’s Oscar award are for films released last year.   The 2021 Awards are for films released between January 2020 to February 2021.)

Q4)        In one 2000 movie, Tom Hanks plays a man called Chuck: whose best friend is a volleyball called Wilson.   Which 2001 film?
A4)        Cast Away.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Tom appears opposite Daryl Hannah: in which rather damp 1984 film?
A5)        Splash.
Here’s a quote …
“The 10th largest state by area, [Wyoming] is also the least populous, and the least densely populated state in the contiguous United States.”
From the Wikipedia Entry about Wyoming.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I know exactly what you mean, Olga: I’ve quite a few films I’ve ended up not watching!   Plus?   I sold my DVD player a few years ago: it wasn’t a multi-region one, though.   I didn’t have THAT much of a collection.
Unlike today …

†        Hello, Mum: send me a post card …

‡        Cheers for that, Edith.   And yes, wasn’t it fun?   Elton conducting singing crocodiles is an image that’s going to stay with me.   Oh, did you know Debbi Harry did an episode?   So did Spike Milligan, that impressed me!

^        Hopefully, Debbi, today’s set won’t be too hard!   He says!   How WAS yesterday!?

I might have read wrong, but I thought you'd said this set was 19 questions! (Or perhaps it was a typo, I don't know), so I was bracing myself for a much longer one. Wyoming sounds fairly easygoing, at least when taxes are concerned, and empty... And visiting Yogi Bear... Perhaps something to keep in mind.
