Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-7-2021: World Chess Day.

20th July, 2021.

Right … it’s a Tuesday … and the weather is looking good … again.

And, after two meetings, yesterday … ?

I’ve another, today.

Yes: I’m due for a meeting with my case worker, at the Job Centre.

Quite how that will go?   I don’t know.

Well …

Not until I get there … !

~≈†≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor*, Mum† and Debbi‡ and putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        20th July is International Chess Day.   It was first marked to celebrate Chess’s international body. What’s that body called: FIFA, FIDE or the IGF?

Q2)        Each player has 16 pieces.   How many queens does each player have at the start of the game: one, two or three?

Q3)        Castles are also known as which ‘R’?

Q4)        Which piece is in between the Bishop and the Castle: the king, queen or knight?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Which piece gets promoted, if it gets to the other side of the board … ?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Great Fire of Rome started, on 19th July of which year: 63AD, 64AD or 65AD?
A1)        64AD.

Q2)        The fire started in the area around the Circus Maximus.   The Circus Maximus was a stadium for what: chariot racing, gladiatorial matches or plays?
A2)        Chariot Racing.

Q3)        Who was Roman Emperor, when the fire started: Caligula, Claudius or Nero?
A3)        Nero.

Q4)        That Emperor was supposed to have started the fire, so he could build what: a palace, an aqueduct or a stadium?
A4)        A palace.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Who were the group responsible for fighting the fire: the Vigiles Urbani, the Cohortes Urbanae, or the Praetorian Guard?
A5)        The Vigiles Urbani.
Here’s a thought …
“Amberley excelled at chess — one mark, Watson, of a scheming mind.”
From The Adventure of the Retired Colourman. by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
And a playlist …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Talking of Night Watch, Trevor … ?   Did you ever see a Russian film called The Night Watch … ?   It’s rather impressive …

†        Hello, Mum!

‡        It’s always a possibility, Debbi!   (Oh, I mentioned The Night Watch to Trevor.   It’s rather good: sort of a hard boiled urban fantasy … )

A3 Rooks
A4 Knight
A5 Pawns (or Prawns as called them when we were kids)

I wondered what the hammering sound I could hear as I lay on the bed reading last night was.
Well on the way to get my morning paper I saw a load of temporary road signs in place in Wendover gardens and on Hanging Hill Lane. There are currently covered up but I suspect 1st thing Wednesday morning they will be uncovered. Bit odd I thought putting signs out after 23.00 at night.
