Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd July, 2021.

22nd July, 2021.

Yep: it’s turned out nice, again.

As you can possibly tell: if you’ve looked outside my building.

It’s quite possibly a lovely day for a trip, somewhere.

I’ll possibly and up in Romford.

Although, frankly?

It’d be nice to go to the coast.

Hey, ho.

~≈¥≈~

I’ve got Radio 4’s Today programme on, again: as I do most mornings.

They’ve reminded me of a couple of points.

It’s getting increasing warm.

So opening windows could be good: especially if, like me, you’ve got a flat with something of a through-draught.

Oh, and closing curtains is good, too: it keeps sunlight out.

That’s something for everyone to think about.

The other thing the show’s told me about?

Is that Kentaro Kobayashi was the creative director of the 2020 Olympic Games opening ceremony.

He’s been sacked: after footage of him making anti-Semitic jokes in the 1990s, re-surfaced.

The Opening Ceremony is tomorrow.

Point one?

They left that a bit late.

Two?   And given the scandals around the Tokyo Games?

I have to ask if we can start calling it a farce … ?

~≈¥≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor*, Mum†, Edith‡ and Debbi^ and putting in their answers: with Trevor and Debbi scoring five out of five, Edith on three and Mum on two.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        22nd July is the feast day of Mary Magdalene.   She’s the patron saint of whom: tanners, shoe makers or cheesewrights?

Q2)        22nd July, 1992, saw the birth of actress and singer, Selena Gomez.   Her TV career started in 2002: when she appeared in which children’s show: Play School, The Mickey Mouse Club or Barney and Friends?

Q3)        The small American town of Albany was chartered on 22nd July, 1686.   It’s now capital of which US state?

Q4)        Earthquakes struck Dingxi: on 22nd July, 2013.   Dingxi is where: China, Japan or Korea … ?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Philip 1st of Castile was born: on 22nd July, 1478.   He was known as Philip the what: Handsome, Tall or Fat?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        21st July is Belgium’s National Day.   It marks the coronation of which Belgian king: Leopold 1st, Leopold 2nd or Albert 1st?
A1)        Leopold 1st.

Q2)        What’s Belgium’s capital city … ?
A2)        Brussels.

Q3)        Belgium has three official languages.   Name one of them.
A3)        French, German or Dutch.

Q4)        Cornet de frites are from Belgium.   It’s a cardboard cone with what in?
A4)        Chips: or French fries, as they’re known in the US.   (The story is the US troops bought them in Europe, during WW1: from French-speaking Belgian troops.)

Q5)        Finally … ?   Tripel, Dubbel and Lambics are all Belgian what: beers wines or liquors?
A5)        Beers.   (Lambics beers are made with wild yeast.   Dubbel and Tripel beers are strong beers: traditionally made by Trappist monks.)
Here’s a thought …
“Despite the rain, it’s still raining here at Old Trafford.”
Jimmy Hill, 22 July 1928 – 19 December 2015.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*    Wooden Planck, Trevor?   What were you saying about my proof reading?   :D
Yeah: I knew Belgian beers come with their own range of glasses.   I get the impression the various shapes enhance the flavour: although I’ve always felt they’re a bit gimmicky.   Wine glasses, and the traditional thistle glass, are also supposed to enhance flavours.

    Hello, Mum … !

Nice to know we will still be seeing you on Twitter, Edith: I always look forward to seeing your tweets!   I can understand your carers’ concerns, though.   Social media can be fun, but can also be dangerous: there’s a lot of scammers about.   (Instagram’s fun, to give you an example: but I get at least one iffy message a week.)

^    That sort of sums it up, Debbi.   Max von Sydow plays a knight: one who tries to beat Death at chess, in order to stay alive.   It should be on TV.app …
I couldn’t resist the photo, Debbi.   Whenever someone mentions prawns, I usually think of The Invisible Enemy!   Pointless trivia for you: the prawn creature in the shot is played by John Scott Martin: the show’s longest running Dalek operator.

Thank you Paul. I enjoy sharing music and sometimes a Let's Pretend episode. Your quiz was one reason I was allowed to stay. I am so grateful to you and everyone else who is helpful to me.
