Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-8-2024 — Fly Me To The Moon

11th August, 2024: Fly Me To The Moon.

Right … Sundays … !

It’s officially Sunday … and?

I’ll happily admit to feeling tired.

Late night movie review writing … takes it out of a body!

That said … ?

Granted, I’m a touch harsh on Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

But?

I still think it’s worth watching …

Actually, on Thursday?

I re-watched Disney’s Tron, on Thursday.

After having mentioned it to my nephew.

Yes, it’s a silly as it ever was.

And, frankly?   Not — as far as I can tell — something that’s as technically as accurate as Brainstorm or Mr Robot.

For all its silliness, though?

Tron is a good looking piece.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

The day also saw Olga‡ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        11th August, 2023, saw the launch of the Luna 25 probe: from the Vostochny Cosmodrome.   The Cosmodrome is where: Russia, Kazakhstan or Latvia?

Q2)        The probe was launched by which agency: NASA, Roscosmos or JAXA?

Q3)        Did the probe have a human crew on board?

Q4)        The Probe was launched on what: a Soyuz 2.1b rocket, a Space Shuttle or a catapult?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Where was the probe headed: Mars, the Moon or Venus?   (This should be obvious!)
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        10th August, 1557, saw Spanish forces win the Battle of Saint Quentin.   They beat an army from where: France, Germany or Portugal?
A1)        France.

Q2)        Ecuador declared itself independent: on 10th August, 1809.   From where: Spain or Portugal?
A2)        Spain.

Q3)        Britain started deporting Acadians from Nova Scotia: on 10th August, 1755.   The Acadians were descended from colonists from where: France, Germany or Spain?
A3)        France.

Q4)        10th August is International Biodiesel Day. Biodiesel can be defined as a mono-alkyl what: Ester, Naomi or Nancy?
A4)        A mono-alkyl ester.   (I knew an Esther, a Naomi and a Nancy, at college.   And a Tracy.   And an Alison.   Ummm … … )

Q5)        Finally … ?   Elizabeth 1st signed the Treaty of Nonsuch on 10th August, 1585: with Dutch Rebels.   The palace where the Treaty was signed, was where: Sussex, Surrey or Kent?
A5)        Surrey.
Here’s a quote …
“Initially called the Luna-Glob lander [ … ], it was renamed Luna 25 to emphasise continuity with the Soviet Luna programme from the 1970s.”
From the Wikipedia article on the flight.
A song …

And an earworm§ …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

It’s certainly that, Debbi!   I do know I have to sign into Blogger, every time I want to write a post: that never happened a a few years ago!
I’ll try and keep my fingers crossed for you … um … …

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you, as well, Olga.   My typing’s off-piste, anyway … !

§        I still — to this day — find Smiley’s death deeply suspicious!   There’s also the fact that the coroner asked the IPCC, the Independent Police Complaints Commission, to not publish their report into Smiley’s death, nor make it available to his family.
That may be completely innocent.   But leaves me asking this: What have they got to hide?

Thanks, Paul. We went out for a short walk this morning and my mother fell on the street, although, thankfully she didn't hurt herself. But it's one thing after another.
I requested a wooden jigsaw puzzle from Amazon, and I'm trying to get it done to do the review, but it's proving a bit more complicated than I expected. Well, it keeps my mind occupied and distracted, that's for sure.

Okay. Elbows in, arms straight, fingers poised over the keyboard, sit up straight, no slouching to the left, knees aligned with toes, shoulders back. Keep doing that.

Onward!

1. Russia
2. Roscosmos
3. no
4. a Soyuz 2.1b rocket
5. the Moon

Love the name "Roscosmos"! Like a Russian Carl Sagan. :)
