Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 16th August 2024.

16th August, 2024.

Right … it’s officially Friday.

And, frankly?

I’m expecting a nice quiet day: until my nephew turns up … tomorrow!

Ho-hum!

~≈¥≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        The Xicolatada festival takes place: in a small village in France.   What’s traditionally drunk at the festival: hot chocolate, beer or wine?

Q2)        16th August is Restoration Day, where: Dominica, the Dominican Republic or Haiti?

Q3)        The World Congress of Universal Documentation started on 16th August, 1937.   In which French city: Paris, Marseille or Lyon?

Q4)        The Christie Pits riots took place on 16th August, 1933.   Where: Saint Johns, Toronto or Victoria?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Elvis Presley died on 16th August, 1977: at his home in Memphis, Tennessee.   What was that home called: Graceland, Dunroaming or the Whitehouse?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        15th August is the Feast of Santa Muerte.   Where: Argentina, Mexico or Brazil?
A1)        Mexico.   Apparently, it’s one of the fastest new religious movements on the planet.

Q2)        She’s considered a personification of what: Death, Time or Fate?
A2)        Death.   (I almost said anthropomorphic personification, there!)

Q3)        She’s traditionally depicted holding a what: sword, scythe or seaxe?
A3)        A Scythe.

Q4)        Her first public shrine opened in 2001.   Where: Buenos Aires, Mexico City or Brasília?
A4)        Mexico City.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Worship of the Santa was established in the USA, when: 2003, 2005 or 2007?
A5)        2005.
Here’s a thought …
“There isn’t anything I want too much, except to be a good actor.”
Fess Parker, August 16, 1924 – March 18, 2010.
A song …

And an earworm …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

That sounds bad, Olga!   Especially with the changing stories!   Have we heard any more about the brain scans … ?

‡        My pleasure, Debbi!   Oh, they do a New Writer contest, as well: although I think this year’s contest is closed.

Q1) hot chocolate (Evidently a Catalan tradition, North Catalonia, after all, although we call it “Xocolatada” Xocolata in Catalan, Chocolate)

Q2) the Dominican Republic

Q3) Paris

Q4) Toronto

Q5) Graceland
Oh, she had an MRI in January, and a CT Scan after the fall, but her diagnosis is Alzheimer's. Now we finally have the date for the echocardiogram, early in October, so she should have everything done by the next time we see her doctor. She's having medication (patches) for the memory problems, but apart from a local reaction to it, not much to be seen.
I hope you have a nice quiet day, as you'll be busy tomorrow for sure. Ah, I booked a day excursion tomorrow, and we'll go to one of the mountains in the Pyrenees (not much walking involved, but should have nice views and a nice meal as well, so not too tiring for her), so I'm not sure what time we'll be back, but if you don't see me, don't worry.
