Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-8-2024 — Indonesia

17th August, 2024: Indonesia.

Right then: it’s definitely Saturday!

And, hopefully … ?

My nephew will be over*.

Which is a good thing: I wanted to show him the screen recording trick I’ve discovered!

~≈É≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga†, Mum‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        17th August is Independence in Indonesia.   Marking the day it proclaimed it’s independence, when: 1944, 1945 or 1946?

Q2)        It marks Indonesia’s independence from which European nation: Germany, the Netherlands or France?

Q3)        The world’s most populated island is part of Indonesia.   What is that island: Sulawesi, Java or Sumatra?

Q4)        What’s the largest island completely within Indonesia: Sumatra, Sulawesi or Java?   (We’re not talking about New Guinea or Borneo: yes, they are very large, but are shared with other nations.)

Q5)        Finally … ?   What’s Indonesia’s capital city?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Xicolatada festival takes place: in a small village in France. What’s traditionally drunk at the festival: hot chocolate, beer or wine?
A1)        Hot chocolate.   (The village it’s held in, is in a Catalan speaking part of southern France.)

Q2)        16th August is Restoration Day, where: Dominica, the Dominican Republic or Haiti?
A2)        The Dominican Republic.

Q3)        The World Congress of Universal Documentation started on 16th August, 1937. In which French city: Paris, Marseille or Lyon?
A3)        Paris.   (H. G. Wells spoke of his ‘World Brain’ idea at the conference.   I have to wonder what he’d’ve made of Wikipedia.   Or the Foundation novels.)

Q4)        The Christie Pits riots took place on 16th August, 1933.   Where: Saint Johns, Toronto or Victoria?
A4)        Toronto.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Elvis Presley died on 16th August, 1977: at his home in Memphis, Tennessee.   What was that home called: Graceland, Dunroaming or the Whitehouse?
A5)        Graceland.   ()
Here’s a quote …
“Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelagic state and the 14th-largest country by area, at 1,904,569 square kilometres (735,358 square miles).”
From the Wikipedia entry on Indonesia.
A national anthem …

And an earworm …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        The downside is our favourite chip shop’s shut for staff holidays.   The manager’s in Basildon, the chef’s in Corfu!   We MAY need a delivery … !

†            I thought it might be Alzheimer’s, Olga¶!   You — and your mother — have my sympathies and commiserations: it’s a nasty condition to have.   If it’s any help, I know Sir Terry was reasonably functional for some time.   (I’m trying not to think of my grandma, here, though.)
Either way?   I hope today goes well for you!

        Hello, Mum!

§        There’s ALWAYS next year, Debbi!  :D

On a lighter note, Olga?   Apparently, the chocolate festival has its roots in a beer-soaked Catalan festival, held the day before.   The chocolate’s a hangover cure, in other words.

Thanks, Paul. We got home quite late. It was complicated, even though there wasn't much walking involved, because there was some going up and down steps to get into the couch, and then the cabin to go to the top of the mountain was a bit tricky to get into as well. But the view and the place were nice.
