Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th January, 2025.

12th January, 2025.

It’s officially official: it’s Sunday!

And … ?

The day after I managed to batch cook some stew.

Stupidly, though … ?

I forgot to include the celery I’d bought for it!

If anyone needs a packet, they’d be welcome to it!

We know there’s wildfires in Los Angeles, at the moment.

And we’re sympathetic to those who’ve lost lives and homes.

What’s strange for me … ?

Is simply the fact that the swish LA suburb of Brentwood is being threatened: and under evacuation orders.

Which is odd to me.

Not “Gosh, wildfires, that’s weird”.

No: it’s just the simple coincidence that seems odd.

I live in the Essex town of Brentwood.

Where we’re getting sub-zero temperatures …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        12th January, 1971, saw the debut of which series: All In The Family, Batman or Dynasty?

Q2)        12th January, 1981, saw the debut of which series: All In The Family, Batman or Dynasty?

Q3)        12th January, 1966, saw the debut of which series: All In The Family, Batman or Dynasty?

Q4)        The Taal Volcano erupted on 12th January, 2020. The volcano is where?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Emperor Zeno fled his capital: on 12th January, AD475.   He’d been ruler of where: the Byzantine Empire, the Roman Empire or the Ottoman Empire?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The city of Mecca was captured on 11th January, AD630.   By forces led by whom?
A1)        Muhammad.

Q2)        11th January, AD930 saw the sacking of which Arabic city?
A2)        Mecca.

Q3)        The Tbilisi Metro open on 11th January, 1966.   Tbilisi, and its metro system, are in which modern country: Azerbaijan, Georgia or Byelorussia?
A3)        Georgia.

Q4)        The Gateway Bridge opened on 11th January, 1986.   Where: Adelaide, Brisbane or Canberra?
A4)        Brisbane.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Thousands were killed in a Peruvian landslide: on 11th January of which year of the 1960s?
A5)        1962.
Here’s a thought …
“It is certain that at certain times talent entirely overcomes thought or poetry.”
John Singer Sargent, January 12, 1856 – April 14, 1925.
And a song …

The next ten question set on 29th January: it’s about Desert Island Discs.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

That’s probably a result of Image Playground’s processing, Olga: it’s looking for averages, after all.   Did I mention a comedian called Jen Brister?   She always reminds me of you: mind you, her mother’s Spanish …
Flying pigs?   Nah … the politicians can stay where they are … !   But, yes, I think wee get similar issues with AirBnB style rentals, as well.   It’s not helped by the Council approving lots of part-buy properties: they count as social housing, but aren’t affordable for those in need!

I’m just grateful I’m not in your shoes, Debbi!

Oh, I see! No, I didn't know her. And yes, there are all kind of tricks to "massage" the numbers and make them look better, but housing is a huge problem...
