Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th August, 2019,

14th August, 2019.

Yes: it’s officially official.

Today is the last Wednesday before I go back to work.

And therefore … ?

The last day I’ll be able to get to bed relatively late.

At least, for a while.

My shift on Friday means getting to bed earlier than my eight year old nephew, on Thursday.

Which makes some things awkward.

Right now … ?

I’ve got a copy of Spider-Man: Homecoming ripping in the background.   And, of course, chose the 4K option: as I wanted to see how long it would take: and how it would look on my Apple TV.

It’s going to take another twenty-three or so hours to finish.

Ho-hum

~≈§≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*,  and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Anne on five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video

Q1) 14th August, 1969, saw British troops sent where?
Q2) 14th August is the Feast day of Saint Arnold of Soissons.   He’s the patron saint of … what?
Q3) Shipyard workers in Poland went on strike: on 14th August, 1980.   In which Polish city?
Q4) 14th July, 2001, saw power cuts hit the north eastern American coast.   What’s caused recent power cuts in Johannesburg: mice, ransomware or cheese?
Q5) Finally … ?   14th August is Independence Day, where: the USA, Pakistan or Fiji?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) As today is International Left Handers Day?   Paul McCartney is the  best known left handed member of the Beatles.   Which instrument did he play?
A1) Bass Guitar.
Q2) If you’re playing guitar left-handedly, what’s your right hand doing?
A2) Fretting: in other words, holding down the guitar strings, on the finger board, to form notes.   (Your left hand is plucking, or picking, the strings: your strumming hand determines whether you a left or right handed player.)
Q3) Tony Iommi is a noted left handed guitar player.   Who does he play guitar for?
A3) Black Sabbath.
Q4) Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes wasn’t left handed.   But did perform with which band?
A4) TLC.
Q5) Director, Christopher Nolan, IS left handed.   What — in 1998 — was his first film?
A5) Following.
Q6) Keanu Reeves is left handed.   Who does he voice in the video game, Cyberpunk 2077?
A6) Johnny Silverhand.   (I had  a copy of Cyberpunk 2020, the roleplaying game Cyberpunk 2077 is based on: it’s fascinating.)
Q7) If you play billiards style sports left-handedly — billiards, snooker, pool, what have you — what hand are you bridging with?
A7) Your right hand.   Aussie player, Neil Robertson, is a good example.   (Your handedness is determined by the hand you’re cueing with: by the hand that moves the cue.   I’m a lefty guitarist … and cue right-handedly.   What the connection is, I don’t know.)
Q8) George Herman ‘Babe’ Ruth was the left handed baseball player.   Did he pitch left-handedly?
A8) According to Wikipedia?   He did.
Q9) Which Filipino senator is ALSO a southpaw boxer … who’s won in eight different weight divisions?
A9) Manny Pacquiao.
Q10) Finally … ?   If you’re an especially bad dancer, you’re said to have two left … what?
A10) Left feet.
Here’s a thought …
“You can’t be perfect every week.”
Elena Baltacha, 14 August 1983 – 4 May 2014.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Yeah, my nephew was the same, Anne.   I’ve watched him do long division, as well: he does it backwards, bless him.

†        They’re probably one of the neighbours, Debbi … !
