3rd August, 2019.
You know, I have to confess to being tired.
Having managed to get to bed, lat, last night.
The reason I got to bed late?
Frankly, what with everything that’s going on, I wanted to eat a movie.
Eat?
Damn you, autocorrect, I meant watch a movie.
In this case?
“Well,” I hear you say?
“Was it worth it?”
Actually, yes: the visuals are something else.

Hmmm …
It seems Priti Patel, the new Home Secretary, and death-sentence-supporting* MP for Witham, has been interviewed by the Daily Mail.
And criminals to feel terror.
Hmmm …
I can’t help but wonder if anyone’s mentioned the 2000AD character, Judge Fear.
He possibly like the idea.

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1) Christopher Columbus left Palos de la Frontera on 3rd August of which year?
Q2) He was heading for what he thought was where: Africa, the Indies, or the Americas?
Q3) The voyage was sponsored by Ferdinand and Isabella … of where?
Q4) Name any one of the three ship Columbus took on the voyage.
Q5) Finally … ? Columbus made landfall on an island he called San Salvador: that’s either in the Bahamas or the Turks and Caicos Islands. In which ocean are those islands?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 2nd August, 1973, saw at least thirty people die in a fire in a resort: on which of the British Isles: the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight or Jersey?
Q2) 2nd August is the feast day of the Virgen de los Angeles: the patron saint to where?
Q3) 2nd August, 1884, saw the birth of Rómulo Gallegos: the 48th President of where?A3) Venezuela.
Q4) Edward 1st returned from the Ninth Crusade: on 2nd August, 1274. Edward was also known as the hammer of the … whom?A4) Scots.
Q5) Finally … ? Charles 10th abdicated: on 2nd August, 1830. As king of where?A5) France.
Here’s a thought …
“I should not proceed by land to the East, as is customary, but by a Westerly route, in which direction we have hitherto no certain evidence that any one has gone.”From Christopher’s Columbus’s diary entry for the day.
And a song …
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Have a good day.
* It’s long and boring: but I really don’t support the death sentence. I’m kind of with Ian Hisplop …
† I get to hear on Monday, Anne: apparently, that’s when the woman who interviewed me will be able to get in touch with their personnel department. Your right: frustrating is putting it mildly! (£25 for a marriage certificate? Ye gods, that’s outrageous: when a birth certificate’s £11 … ! I’m guessing they want to encourage people to make sure they have their birth certificate. Even so …)
‡ Oh, yes, I’d worked that out, Debbi! The woman who interviewed me — and who’d be managing the branch — seems quite young: and heavily implied she’d just been promoted to manage her first store. I’m thinking that’s a big factor.

I'm so glad things got straightened out. These things happen, but can be fixed.
1. 1492
2. the Indies
3. Spain
4. the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria
5. the Atlantic
Number 4 was something we had to learn in elementary school. The three ships just trip off the tongue here. :)
