Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd January, 2020.

22nd January, 2020.

Right …

I’m officially going to be indoors until one.

Hopefully?

At the latest.

My new boiler is now on my wall and working.

All I need, now?

Is the visit from the electrician: who’s going to be installing the thermostat.

Here’s hoping he’s early.

I’m assuming you have access to at least one streaming service: or, at least, follow the news about them?

Disney+ is one of the bigger ones to launch, recently.

But has done so, in patches.

It launched in November, in the US: and some other countries.

And HAD planned to launch in the UK, on the 31st March.

Well …

Disney’s decided to launch the UK version of its streaming service a week early: on 24th March.

The speculation is that Disney are doing the early launch: in order to reduce piracy.

Given the easy availability of fully loaded Kodi boxes*?

Given the easy access to torrents trackers like Pirate Bay?   And easy access to bit torrent clients like BitTorrent, µTorrent and Transmission?

I think Disney’s a bit late.

Pirates have already put The Mandalorian online.

Disney could have helped themselves by having a global launch: on one, universal, date …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring ten out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here’s a bit of poetry …

With a Diadem of Snow.”

And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        The Kodi software, itself, is perfectly legal: much like VLC and other open source media players.   The third party add ons that allow a user to access third party, copyrighted, content for free? Are generally illegal: and not endorsed by Team Kodi.

†        Right Said Fred’s always a classic, Olga^: to the point the band owe Bernard a huge favour!   Good luck with Gloria: hopefully, it won’t be as bad as Storm Brendan!

‡        Just you wait, Debb^: I’ve got some real weirdies coming!

^        Can I tempt you both to a coffee?   The patterns some baristas do are all very well: but look bloody odd to left-handers.

Congratulations on the new boiler and I hope the electrician gets there in time. Gloria is proving persistent. It is not raining as heavily this morning, but I think it's supposed to rain most of the day and tonight as well. I have a walk scheduled on Sunday morning, so let's hope it's all over (in theory it should improve by tomorrow).
I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned Harold's Going Stiff, a peculiar zombie movie filmed in Penistone. I love it (yes, the acting is patchy but it's funny, quite sweet, and oh, so very British, apart from the location, of course).

I went to a showing of the movie at the Sheffield Film Festival, and there was a Q&A with the director, although it was on Skype, as they'd just won an award (I think in Austin), and the director said that when they showed the movie there, he'd suddenly notice how many cups of tea people drank during the movie, of course, not something common in the USA. Every time I hear the tea song I remember that...

I have just seen that you had a set of questions on Albania. Well before I met Penny, she and the leadership of one of the UK's many communist Partys visited Albania on several occasions. As I sit on the sofa watching the Telly my feet are resting on an Albania floor rug. There are Leks in the foreign coins/notes collection. Also in the vinyl record collection (out in the garage) is an LP of Albanian Shephard flute music.

Penny and I had totally different Political views. She was slightly Left and I was slightly Right.
