Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-1-2021: Rowan Atkinson

6th January, 2021.

Yes: it’s officially official.

I’ve got a meeting with my Health and Work programme, this morning.

At Ten.

As much use as they are, I’ve still got to be sat by the phone, ready to go!

Yippee …

~≈☎︎≈~

Talking of phones, quickly?

I got a text message, last night: from banking group, Santander.

Complete with a (dubious looking) link that let’s me update my contact details.

It’s a scam.

I don’t bank with Santander …

~≈£≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor*, Mum†, Debbi‡ and Edith^ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        6th January saw the birth of actor, comedian and writer, Rowan Atkinson.   In which year?

Q2)        He came to fame in Not the Nine O’Clock News.   Name one of the other three performers in Not the Nine O’Clock News.

Q3)        In which film did he play Nigel Small-Fawcett?

Q4)        From 1990, Atkinson played Mr … who?

Q5)        Finally, and famously? He played at least four different versions of Edmund whom?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        5th January is Twelfth Night. It’s the last night of the Twelve Days of what?
A1)        Christmas.

Q2)        Twelfth Night is also the eve of which Christian E?
A2)        Epiphany.

Q3)        We’re supposed to wassail on Twelfth Night.   Wassail is a type of mulled what: wine, cider or rum?
A3)        Cider. (Cider, in the US, is a kind of non-alcoholic apple juice.   Here in the UK, it’s distinctly alcoholic.)

Q4)        Who wrote the play, Twelfth Night, or What you Will?
A4)        William Shakespeare.

Q5)        Finally … ?   If you were taking part in the Cavalcade of Magi, on Twelfth Night, you’d be in which country?
A5)        Spain.   (Wikipedia tells us the Spanish name for it is Cabalgata de Reyes Magos, and the Catalan equivalent, La Cavalcada de Reis.)
Here’s a thought …
“All jokes about religion cause offence, so it's pointless apologising for them.”
Rowan Atkinson.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        About those coins, Trevor?   And before we talk about the prices collectors are charging?   Wouldn’t you know it, there’s been one hell of a cock-up: have you seen the legs … ?   And that’s before we talk about the hat!   (We took the vouchers, when I worked in McColls.   And I tend to do cashless, if I have money on my card.   I prefer the cash self service tills at Sainsbury’s, though: easier for me as a left-hander …)

†        Hello, Mum!   (Well done, five out of five, yesterday!)

‡        You’re right, there, Debbi!   We’ll have to see!

^        Oooh, well done, Edith: five out of five, yesterday!   And yes, it would be nice to see her around, some more!

On the coin the Invisible-man is being a gentleman and raising his top hat to a Lady. I have just noticed the reference to the Time Machine round the rim of the coin.

There are a number of Martian Machines in War of the Worlds. Fighting machines were tripods but Handling machines were multi legs for assembling other machines or capturing Humans.

Here I am again! It was a long and hard day, but it was fun. And the children seemed to enjoy it as well (and the parents appreciated having something available this year, with so many restrictions). Mind you, from tomorrow we are locked into smaller areas, and I guess if I carry on with the classes to the girl in el Prat, I'll need to get certificates from the agencies justifying it is job-related...
I hope the meeting goes well, even in these circumstances.
