Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-1-2021: The UnBaez’ed Truth!

9th January, 2021.

Well, OK …

I started with an earworm: from Burl Ives, if you must know.

Quite why, I don’t know: but the first time I heard it would have been in my childhood.

It’s occasionally getting interrupted by Elvis …

Give me another ten minutes … and something else will turn up.

For those of us that follow the news?

In the wake of Wednesday’s storming of Capitol Hill, and other State Capitol buildings, and Trump’s suspension from Facebook?

Mr Trump has ALSO been banned from Twitter.

And managed to get two posts removed from the official, presidential, account.

In the wake of clampdowns in 2020?

Many of Mr Trump’s supporters switched to Parler: the ‘free speech’ alternative to Twitter.

Again, yesterday: Google announced it was removing Parler from its Play Store.

With Apple adding that it was reviewing the app’s presence on the App Store.

Frankly?

I’d never thought I’d see politics getting this nasty.

Except, of course, I survived Brexit.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Trevor†, Mum‡, Debbi^ and Edithª putting in their answers: with Trevor, Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, Mum on four, and Edith on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        Joan Baez was born: on 9th January of which year of the 1940s?

Q2)        What — in 1963 — was the name of her first UK hit single?

Q3)        Her fist album was called Joan Baez.   It was released, when: 1960, 1961 or 1962?

Q4)        Famously, she played at the original Woodstock Festival.   In which year of the 1960s?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Which technology magnate did she date in the 1980s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        8th January, 2021, is a Friday.   The name, Friday comes from the Old High English name of a Goddess called what: Frigg, Fridge or Fred?
A1)        Frigg.

Q2)        According to the old nursery rhyme, Friday’s child is loving and … what?
A2)        Giving.

Q3)        Friday is a novel by whom: Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke or Robert Heinlein?
A3)        Robert Heinlein.

Q4)        Al-Jumu’ah (Friday in Classical Arabic, written as الجمعة) is a chapter of the Quran.   What’s the Arabic name for those chapters: sūrah, āyah or ḥadīth?
A4)        Sūrah. An āyah is an individual verse in a sūrah.   The ḥadīths are the sayings of the Prophet.   (The chapter, itself, encourages the faithful to pray on Fridays.)

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Friday film franchise stars which rapper: Ice T, Ice Cube or Icy Metric?
A5)        Ice Cube.
Here’s a thought …
“I was trying to disturb the war.”
Joan Baez.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        That lecturer sounds like a wise man, Olgaº!   On top of everything else?   We can take some solace in the fact he’s been kicked off Twitter!   (Oh … About Joan Baez … ?   Have you got a guitar handy … ? :D)

†        The cartoonists sound like they’re on form, Trevorº.   I’m just wondering if Jamiroquai’s going to be suing Viking Guy on copyright grounds!

‡        Hello, Mumº!

^        I can’t say I can, Debbiº.   (Any idea if Jamiroquai could sue?)

ª        Morning, Edithº: how IS today … ?   (Oh, I’ve tweeted you about You-Know-Who!)

º        Am I right, everyone?  Does Joan Baez look vaguely like Olga … ?

Oh, sorry, no guitar! I've read that quite a few of the rioters that have been identified already have been kicked out of their jobs. No great loss, I don't think. Take care (we have rain but it's cold, so I'm sure it will be snowing higher up).
