Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-9-2023 — Newspaper Carrier Day.

4th September, 2023: Newspaper Carrier Day.

Normally?

I’d be officially telling you it’s officially Monday.

In an officially official kind of way.

With … you know … officially sprinkles.

So I thought I’d over do it, today.

Then move on …

As I’ve seen news.

It’s officially the case that — in an interview with The Advocate — 15th Doctor actor, Ncuti Gatwa, has outed himself.

Good for him.

I can only hope he doesn’t get a negative reaction, as a result!

I’m very aware the interview doesn’t answer the important question.

Or, at least, the important one from where I’m sitting?

The important question … is “Is Ncuti left handed?”

~≈⚖️≈~

Oh … you’ll’ve possibly realised I’m overweight.

Indeed, I’m off to a weight management meeting, this morning.

So?

Given I was one person initially prescribed Ozempic — the diabetes drug that’s helpful in reducing weight — until a shortage meant switching to another medication called Trulicity.

Which is helping my blood sugars: but, seemingly, not as good as a weight loss promoter.

At least, the rate of loss — for me — seems to have slowed.

It’s still heading down: just more slowly than it did on Ozempic.

Given that … ?

I was interested to hear that Wegovy is to be made available on the NHS: although in limited amounts.

Given its active ingredient is Semaglutide, something Wegovy shares with Ozempic?

Means I’ll have to ask my GP about it.

~≈⚖️≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        4th September is Newspaper Carrier Day in the US.   According to the Wikipedia entry on the day, the first paperboy was hired in which year: 1833, 1835 or 1837?

Q2)        More to the point, that paperboy was called what: Barney Flaherty, Billy Flaherty or Bertie Flaherty?

Q3)        Paperboy — the Atari video game — was first released, when: 1983, 1985 or 1987?

Q4)        Baseball player, Josh Wilson, is known as “the Paperboy”.   He played for whom, in 2017: the Texas Rangers, York Revolution or Cleveland Indians?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Paperboy is a mobile news app.   From where: the USA, India or Germany?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        3rd September is Welsh Rarebit Day in the USA.   Welsh rarebit is cheese on what?
A1)        Toast.

Q2)        3rd September is the feast day of Mansuetus of Toul.   Where is Toul: Belgium, San Marino or France?
A2)        France.

Q3)        3rd September is Flag Day.   Where: Australia, New Zealand or Vanuatu?
A3)        Australia.

Q4)        A riot finished on 3rd September, 1976.   At HMP where: HMP Manchester, HMP Hull or HMP Belmarsh?
A4)        HMP Hull.

Q5)        Finally … ?   3rd September is Merchant Navy Day in the UK.   British Merchant Naval ships fly the Red … what?

A5)        The Red Ensign.

Here’s a quote …
“A paperboy is someone – often an older child or adolescent – who distributes printed newspapers to homes or offices on a regular route, usually by bicycle or automobile.”
From the Wikipedia entry on paperboys.
And some music …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

I can imagine Rory would agree, there, Olga.   The job’s getting tougher, in that regard.   Quite what Spitting Image would’ve made of Liz Truss as PM, though … ?   I don’t know!
The original Good Omens is worth a watch, I think.   This new series is worth a watch, too: and you don’t need to have seen to first one to follow the second.

‡        Oh, that they do, Debbi, that they do!   Oh … did you see the news about Ncuti … ?

I'll keep it in mind. I hope the news about the medication helps and the GP can source some, although between them announcing something and it happening there can be a long gap. Oh, and I hope today's meeting went well.

You know, it's the first I've heard of this day. So ...

Also, turns out there aren't many paper boys left. What with the internet and big business, etc., etc.
