Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th June, 2024.

11th June, 2024.

Right, then: it’s officially Busy Tuesday … !

Well, I say ‘busy’ … when I actually mean I have a dental check-up.

I’m just glad I’m not in one of the Dental Deserts the Local Government Authority’s been highlighting!

Did I mention it’s my sister’s birthday, tomorrow?

If you’d like to wish Anna a happy birthday, fell free,

The oddity?

Is that we’re celebrating with a finally meal, tonight: at a newly opened Japanese restaurant in Brentwood High Street.

That’s going to be an experience.

I’ve never had Japanese food in my life: and wouldn’t know how to use chopsticks if you paid me!

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Yes: it was the start of Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference, yesterday: the Conference where Apple announces a whole range of new stuff!

OK: Apple’s new AI features — branded under the name Apple Intelligence — sound like they could be either useful: or a nightmare.

But hopefully won’t take up much space*.

About the only thing that caught my eye as being handy?

Were the new wind tiling features.

As someone with just one monitor?

That strikes me as useful!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Carly†, Mum‡, Olga§ and Debbi¶ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, Carly on four and Mum on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Here’s a thought …
“I said that the oceans were sick but they’re not going to die.   There is no death possible in the oceans — there will always be life — but they’re getting sicker every year.”
Jacques Cousteau, 11 June 1910 – 25 June 1997.
A song …

And an earworm …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        You may or may not know it: but most current versions of a lot of Apple software — including the operating system, and a lot of third party stuff — come as a form called ‘universal binaries’.   That means they come with two sets of code, that works on both the modern Apple Silicon chips, and the still supported Intel Macs.
That’s useful: as it means the older Macs can be supported for longer.   But?   Means software takes up more space than it could: as it has code you and I don’t need.   The day Apple switches to purely Apple Silicon code, is something I’m looking forward to: as it will free up a lot of space.

Welcome aboard, Carly!   You should be able to sign in with your Google account on your phone: that’s usually what Mum does!   (Oh, Mum, Olga and Debbi are all on Facebook, if you wanted to look them up!)

Hello, Mum!   (Yes: Tomsk was the big muscly womble, Mum.)

§        I know what you mean about Bernard Manning, Olga: I think he’d be a little too right-of-centre.   Something Stephen Fry said about about him, though?   Was that, while he didn’t like Manning’s politics, he thought the man’s stagecraft was impeccable!
I know what you mean about series and movies, as well.   I’m not going to be reviewing it: but I’m going to be finishing watching Godzilla vs Kong, at some point!
Oh, we had some very good acts.   Wilko — and Dumpy’s Rusty Nuts, and Nicky Moore — were relatively well known.   I think the only band the owners couldn’t get were Status Quo: when they were doing a pub venue tour back in the day.   I would’ve killed to see them!
Oh … there was a band called the Motel Kings who played at the Essex.   I was there when they recorded this album.   Nick and the boys knew what they were doing°.

¶        Interesting is putting it mildly, Debbi!   It’ll certainly be interesting to see how The Legend of Ruby Sunday shapes up!
Oh … have you got Disney+?   Only there’s a series called The Acolyte doing the rounds!

°        I know exactly where Nick was pointing, Olga, when he says “They’re doing it down there!”

Q3) Scotland

Q4) Steven Spielberg

Q5) play
Very good. Yes, getting Status Quo would have been amazing.
I have eaten at a few Japanese restaurants, and lots of people love sushi. (I can take it or leave it. I don't mind the raw fish side of things, but I find plain white rice a bit boring and I've gone off it over the years). I am quite fond of tempura, which is just like frying whatever you're eating on a butter, very crispy, so that might be an easy option if you aren't feeling too adventurous. I'm not good with chopsticks either, but most restaurants will be happy to give you knife and fork (and spoon).
I am sure your sister will have plenty of suggestions, and there might be the option of having a taster menu and try and share different things, so you can get an idea about what you like or not.
Happy birthday to your sister and I hope you have a great time.

BTW, I found this: https://www.wikihow.com/Eat-with-Chopsticks

They probably won't mind if you use a fork.

Japanese restaurants can be fun.

Happy birthday, Anna! Enjoy!
