1st April, 2025: A Fool and His Money …
It’s got to be said: I feel slightly silly!
As I was up at 3:15, this morning.
Literally, I was up — and awake-ish! — at 3:15.
Utterly convinced my alarm had gone off.
It was wasn’t until my computer — on over night, to do some transcoding — announced the time that I realised two things.
- I was up, way too early.
- I’d wasted a tea bag.
Ho-hum!

As an extra thought … ?
I was at my weight management meeting, yesterday.
You know that: you know I’ve been going to them, first thing on a Monday morning, for some time.
This week … ?
I’ve officially lost one and a half kilos: about three pounds.
That — considering I was up seven hundred grams, last week? — was good going.
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s [insert number here] questions, shall we?
Q1) According to the old saying, “A fool and his money are often … ” what?Q2) Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughan and Bryan Ferry, have all covered which foolish song?Q3) A fool’s cap is worn by jesters. Foolscap is a specific size of what: paper, plank or rump steak?Q4) ‘The Fool’ is a Gibson SG guitar. Originally made for who: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton or Jeff Beck?Q5) Finally … ? Durak — or Fool — is a card game from where: Greece, Russia or Tanzania?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 31st March is World what day: World Backup Day, World Toast Day or World Rhubarb Day?Q2) 31st March, 2018, saw a revolution, where: Armenia, Azerbaijan or Afghanistan … ?A2) Armenia.Q3) Newfoundland and Labrador joined Canada on 31st March. Here’s a thought …
“Hope often tricks a fool.”From Havelok the Dane.
And a Panorama report …
The next ten question set is on the 3rd April: it’s about 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Yeah, I think you half finished a question, Olga: you put ‘linear’, instead of ‘linear b’.
Thankfully, there wasn’t an issue at the pharmacy: so no problems, there! But … ? You know there’s now safe zones around abortion clinics in the UK? They’re supposed to stop pro-life protestors pestering the users.
It seems JD Vance is against it: it’s supposed violate the protestors free speech.
(If I’ve understood it, correctly, some of the pro-lifers offer support to the users. Whether it’s effective, wanted, or taken up in numbers? I don’t know.)
† Hello, Mum!
‡ I’ll keep my fingers crossed, Debbi.

Well done on the weight front. I normally leave the correct answer and erase the rest, so I probably I erose the letter B as well....
My mother actually went to work (and she used to work in a factory and her shift started at 6 a.m.) on a Sunday, convinced that it was Monday. So, easily done. (She normally goes to be early, at 9 or 9:30 pm, and sometimes she has just turned up before midnight, convinced that the night had gone and I was up again next morning).
