Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-3-2025 — Rupert The Bear

11th March, 2025: Rupert the Bear.

Right … it’s Tuesday … !

And … ?

I’ve officially put on weight: about a hundred grams: roughly a fifth of a pound.

I think I’m going to have to lay off the crisps …

~≈🥔≈~

I had another reason to go to town, yesterday: in the afternoon.

My left lens popped out.

In my spectacles.

I’m grateful my opticians were able to fix to, and do so for free.

But resent the fact I’ve had to go up Warley Hill twice in one day.

~≈🧗🏻‍♂️≈~

Hmmm …

Apparently, the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, had a meeting with Labour MPs, last night.

And said that the Government is going to have to cut benefits, in order to reduces costs.

As one of the suggested ones is Personal Independence Payments, one of two benefits that I’m on?

I’m, understandably, concerned.

I know there’s a general attitude: that God — or the Government — giveth and taketh away … but it’s not something I like the sounds of.

Just as a last thought … ?

Long term regular, Olga, lives in Barcelona: and has visiting birds, visiting ocells, nesting in a tree outside her flat.

It’s official, I think: spring is on its way …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th March, 2025.

10th March, 2025.

Right … it’s officially Monday … and, as ever, I’m up early.

Yes: I’m off to my weight management class, again.

Hopefully?

I’ll lost something.

In addition to my wits, sense, brains, money, and lord knows what else!

Oh … I’m in the middle of making the next batch of Teaser videos.

Which is always a big job.

I’m am grateful I’ve got the machinery I have, though: the 2024 model mini I have, makes quick work of the process.

At least, of the exporting process.

That’s always helpful.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-3-2025 — Lithuania.

9th March, 2025: Lithuania.

I had a good day, yesterday: I finally managed to sell a second hand computer.

I’ve been wanting to sell my 2023 model Mac for some time: ever since I managed to replace it with a 2024 model.

So … ?   Given I knew CeX* were selling the model for a hefty amount of cash, and that I’d only get a fraction of that price if I sold it to them?

I put it on Facebook Marketplace on Thursday.

And started getting enquiries, by Friday morning.

Including one from a customer we’ll call Sid, to preserve his privacy: who seemed both genuine, and friendly.

Facebook Marketplace throws you buyers who aren’t, buyers who are chancing it, buyers who are ‘just looking’ … and buyers who are making genuine, but low, offers.

Sid seemed genuine, and was prepared to put in a good offer.

And had done enough research into the seller — me! — to make sure I was kosher!

And felt confident enough to turn up from London, with the cash … and walk away with the machine, a copy of Genesis of the Daleks, a free HDMI cable … and a discount.

The man was a Dr Who fan, after all: one quite happy to natter about the relative merits of various episodes.

Frankly?

Good customers — and friendly ones, at that — are hard to find.

Sid, if you’re reading this?

Thank you, sir!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-3-2025 — The Shahnameh

8th March, 2025: The Shahnameh.

Right … does anyone need a second hand Mac … ?

I’ve got a 2023 M2 model for sale: that I’ll probably end up selling to the Romford branch of CeX.

Along side an unneeded monitor and a blu-ray version of Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

We’ll have to see what Facebook’s Marketplace does … once I get genuine customers, instead of chancers!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7th March, 2025

7th March, 2025.

Right …

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’re very aware I’m trying to lose weight.

It’s something I’ve struggled to do for many years.

So … ?

I tend to be interested when something about weight-management crops up on the news.

Medications, lack of medications, what have you.

Today … ?

The Today programme tells us that research at Cambridge University has shown there’s a gene that affects the brains signals that tell us we’ve eaten enough.

And that we share this gene … with labradors.

It’s an interesting bit of science to know.

But I’m tempted — as I was in today’s intro video — to tell you I feel ruff … ruff ruff … ruff ruff ruff … bark … whine … woof … !

~≈🐶≈~

The most senior envoy from New Zealand, to the UK, was fired, yesterday.

As … ?

He’d apparently said the US president’s knowledge of history was flawed: and pointed out that — in his view — the President had never heard of Sudentenland.

The area in what had been Czechoslovakia that had a high number of German speakers: and was annexed by Germany’s Nazi regime, and led to Neville Chamberlain’s “Peace in our time” speech.

A speech that told us Germany had no more territorial claims.

A speech made less than a year before the German invasion of Poland.

A speech that, given that invasion, was deeply unwise.

Given that … ?

I think the President of the USA is going to look like the former PM …

And that New Zealand’s envoy had a point!
