The Daily Teaser — 10-9-2011

Hmmm …

THAT’S mildly annoying …

Did you ever wake up with a song floating around you head … ?

I have.

Believe it or not, the theme tune to an old TV shows: an old 1970s one called On The Move.

The really irritating bit … ?

Is I’m blowed if I can find any video footage of the song, or the series … !

I mean …

For starters, the song was rather catchy.

And on top of that … ?

The series had a very young Bob Hoskins.

Oh, well …

I think I’ll just have to suffer … !

Let’s get moving on, shall we … ?

Yes, lets … !

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Debbi and Nina putting in their answers: with Debbi bagging 5 out of 5, and Nina — relax, Nina, I THINK Norway’s pulled more Zeros — bagging 3. On top of THAT … ? Bless her, Debbi managed to do a very flattering post … That’s NOT about this chap

But let’s see how they — and you — manage to do with today’s questions, shall we? Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video

Q1) 10th September, 1973, saw bombs go off in two London stations: name either of the stations.

Q2) That same day saw which boutique open it’s biggest branch on Kensington High Street … ?

Q3) 10th September, 2008, saw which device powered up in the Swiss city of Geneva … ?

Q4) 10th September, 1926, saw the birth of which noted British painter … ?

Q5) And finally … 10th September, 1918, saw the birth of the original … whom … ?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 9th September, 1971, saw British diplomat, Geoffrey Jackson, released 8 months after being held hostage … in which South American country … ?
A1) Uruguay.

Q2) According to SOME stories, 9th September, 1947, saw the finding of the world’s first computer bug: was it a software problem, a loose cable or a fried moth?
A2) A fried moth: it had got into a Harvard Mark 2, and been cooked on a transistor. (Rumour has it that the term ‘re-booting’ traces it’s way back to the same machine’s need for a pair of steel-toe-capped boots, to get going … )

Q3) 9th September, 1956, saw Elvis Presley make his first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show: who was hosting the show, that night … ?
A3) Actor, Charles Laughton.

Q4) 9th September, 1839, saw the first plate glass photograph made: by whom … ?
A4) John Herschel.

Q5) And finally … 9th September, 1999, saw the Police Review Commission urge sweeping reform of which force … ?
A5) The RUC: the Royal Ulster Constabulary, in other words …
Enjoy those, everyone: I’ll catch you later …

After I’ve left you with a trailer for a favourite film …

Oh, and Debbi, remind me to tell you about the Eurovision Song Contest, at some point. Because, while I know Nina’s going to complain about some Finnish achievements in the contest, they DID manage to pull off what many thought was the epic win. By entering a bunch of orcs
