Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-6-2016

Right …

That’s another summer solstice done with!

And yesterday morning?   Was pretty bloody gruesome, weather wise.

At least we can say it’s sunny, today.

At any rate?

At ANY rate, I know last night saw me drinking a cocoa.

Yes, I know that sounds innocent: until you realise my IBS decided to react …

Typically … !

At any rate?

I had one piece of good news.

Simply this: I’m Sorry, I Haven’t A Clue is back on, next week.

Gives me something to look forward to!

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 21st June, 1877, saw ten Irish immigrants — who’d been convicted of murder  — hanged in two different US prisons.   The group were known as what?
Q2) 21st June, 1945: during World War 2, American troops captured one of the islands of Japan.   Which island?
Q3) The Battle of Bomarsuund took place: on the 21st June, 1854.   The battle saw the first award’s of which Military medal?
Q4) The night of 21st June, 1964, saw the murder of three civil rights workers.   By members of which far-right group?
Q5) Finally … 21st June, 1963, saw Cardinal Giovanni Montini elected as Pope.   What was his papal name?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) The US Congress Adopted the Great Seal of the United States: on 20th June, 1782.   What animal features on the Seal: an elephant, donkey or eagle?
A1) An eagle.
Q2) British troops captured in India on 20th June, 1756, were held in a dungeon at Fort William.   The dungeon is notoriously known as the Black Hole of where?
A2) Calcutta.   (The city, itself, is now known as Kolkata.)
Q3) The Victoria Terminus — India’s then busiest station — opened on 20th June, 1887.   The station’s in which Indian city?
A3) What’s now called Mumbai.
Q4) The village of Baltimore was attacked by Algerian pirates: on 20th June, 1631.   The village is in what’s now which country: the USA, Ireland or Australia?
A4) Ireland.
Q5) Finally … 20th June is World Refugee Day.   Many refugees suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress … what?
A5) Disorder.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Our responsibility is much greater than we might have supposed, because it involves all mankind.”
Jean-Paul Sartre, 21 June 1905 – 15 April 1980.
And this tune …

Have a nice day.

*        I think there’s a few Baltimores: certainly in the US, Debbi.   But I think it’s quite common: a lot of US, Australian, Canadian and New Zealander towns and cities take their names from whatever UK town the early colonists moved away from.   I think all the various Perths take their name from the town in Scotland.   And, frankly, Boston’s a TART!   (If we EVER colonise Mars?   Someone’s going to name a city, York)

Thanks to see Salomé (I remember the song when it went to Eurovision. To be honest we didn't do well often so it's memorable even if that year everybody won near enough.)
