Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-8-2016

Right, it’s official: I’m back to work, today.

And, frankly?

Well, frankly, I’m hoping my guts don’t get set off: which seems likely, as they’ve been behaving themselves over the past few days.

Which is all good.

What’s more concerning?

Is simply the fact I really want to go bad to bed.

As?   Well, as I really couldn’t get off to sleep, last night.

Granted, I was up late, putting #Teaser videos together.

Once THAT was done, and I was tucked up in bed?

I just really couldn’t get off.

Lord knows why!

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Debbi scoring four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 4th August is the feast day of Saint Sithney: the patron saint of mad dogs.   He’s ALSO the patron saint of the small village that shares his name.   That village is in which English county?
Q2) Klaus Schulze was born: on 4th August, 1947.   He’d been a drummer — briefly — for which seminal German band: Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream or DAF?
Q3) 4th August, 1947, saw the formal establishment of the Saikō-Saibansho: the Supreme Court of which Asian nation?
Q4) 4th August, 2007, saw the launch of the Phoenix craft: by NASA.   The craft landed on which planet?
Q5) Finally … 4th August, 1984, saw the Republic of Upper Volta changed its name.   To what?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) Which country’s branch of the Anglican Church appointed an openly gay bishop: on 3rd August, 2003?
A1) The USA’s branch.
Q2) Tandy Corporation announced its TRS-80 range of computers.   The processor it used was a what: 8-bit, 16-bit or 32-bit processor?
A2) An 8-bit processor.   (If I’ve understood things, correctly?   An 8-bit processor can process instructions, one letter — 8 bits — at a time.   A 16-bit one handles two letters at a time, a 32-bit one, four, and so on.   Most modern processors are 32 or 64 bit processors.)
Q3) The BAA and the NBL completed their merger, to become the NBA:  on 1949.   Which very American sport do — or did — the three groups govern?
Q4) Niger gained its independence: on 3rd August, 1960.   From which European country?
A4) France.
Q5) Finally … which European country declared itself neutral, during World War 1: on 3rd August, 1914?
A5) Romania.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Wouldn’t it be terrible if you’d spent all your life doing everything you were supposed to do, didn’t drink, didn’t smoke, didn’t eat things, took lots of exercise, all the things you didn’t want to do, and suddenly one day you were run over by a big red bus, and as the wheels were crunching into you you’d say ‘Oh my god, I could have got so drunk last night!’ That’s the way you should live your life, as if tomorrow you’ll be run over by a big red bus.”
Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, 4 August 1900 – 30 March 2002.
And this tune …

Enjoy your day.

*        Oh, I hate it when companies don’t get in touch, Olga!   It’s VERY dispiriting, whether you’ve put in a formal application or not!   Still … there’s always next time!

†        It’s for a local phone shop, Debbi: not far from Café Nero, funnily!   Most of the time, I’d be selling phones and phone contracts.   (Most of the current staff eat where I work, now: which is how I heard about the gig.)
