Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8-5-2017: The Pox

Hmmm …

Caroline Lucas, one of the Green party’s co-leaders, was on Radio 4, this morning.

Advocating the idea of a progressive alliance for the 2017 General election.

In other words?

The idea that in a given constituency— in the up-coming general election — those candidates who have little chance of winning stand aside.

In favour of an opposition candidate who stands a better chance of winning the seat.

Hmmm …

Personally?

I voted Green in the recent local elections for Essex Council.

Indeed, have a Green party poster in my window.

For me, a mix things has contributed to that. My feelings of disillusion with the Liberal Democrats, my belief that Labour don’t stand a chance of winning the Brentwood and Ongar seat, and I’m blowed if I’m voting Conservative.

I can understand Ms Lucas’ position.   It gives individual leftist parties a greater chance of winning a seat, and it works out cheaper for local parties: in terms of deposits, advertising and other costs.

I’m, personally, don’t know if the Green’s will be fielding a candidate in Brentwood.

I hope they do: I’d rather vote for someone.

But if they don’t?

I have my usual option of spoiling my vote available to me.

Vive la Vote blanc … !

*        Apparently, Debbi, Lucasfilms have been wanting to show Vader’s castle for a while!   Rogue One was the first chance they got, to show it.   (Have you seen Knock, Knock, yet, Debbi?   Thought that was rather good, although someone’s going to mention Ghost Light.   After all, they’re variations of a haunted house.)
