Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21st September, 2017: There and Back, Again

Hmmm … that’s possibly useful.

It seems Facebook’s announced that you can now  block a certain type of advert on their site.

Specifically?

Alcohol related ones.

That’s appealing: especially for a non-drinker like me.

Granted, I’ve got AdBlock Plus enabled on my desktop: and have had for years.

But only on the desktop.

Frankly?

It’s possibly something to tinker with, on my mobile devices … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit was first published: on 21st September, 1937.   What’s the overall name of Tolkien’s sequel to The Hobbit?
Q2) What was the name of Tolkien’s posthumously published sequel to that latter book?
Q3) The Hobbit’s main character is a hobbit called what?
Q4) Famously, that hobbit finds a magical ring: that turns him what: pink, invisible or silent?
Q5) Finally?   Bilbo and his friends set out to steal a dragon’s what: treasure, lair or major internal organs?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) The Prophet, Muhammed, arrived in Medina: on 20th September, 622 AD.   After leaving which city?
A1) Mecca.
Q2) 20th September, 1967, saw the Queen launch which ship?
A2) The Queen Elizabeth 2nd, or QE2.
Q3) Five different nations signed the Treaty of Ryswick: on 20th September, 1697.   The Treaty ended what: the War of the Roses, the Nine Year War or the Hundred Years War?
A3) The Nine Year War.
Q4) The socialist republic of where, was admitted to the UN: on 20th September, 1977?
A4) Vietnam.
Q5) Finally … 85, Vauxhall Cross was attacked on 20th September, 2000.   The building is home to whom: MI5, MI6 or GCHQ?
A5) MI6: also know as SIS.
Here’s a thought …
“Thief, thief, thief! Baggins! We hates it, we hates it, we hates it for ever!”
Gollum, in The Hobbit.
And a song about crockery …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Actually, that reminds me, Olga: I’ve got Siri on my AppleTV.   I’ll have to make more use of the thing.   At least to get to some of the joke replies programmed into the thing!   (I always feel ambiguous about Kindles!)

†        OK, Debbi, I’ll keep my eyes open for the post!

I had Siri on my old iPhone but never got on with her (it?)
I also have the Adblock installed on my computer but you're reminded me I should get it on my phone too. ;)

Interesting that you feel ambiguous about Kindles. Is it e-readers you don't like or Kindles in particular? I have a Kobo and a Kindle, and the Kobo tends to hold its charge longer.

But I still love reading print books! It's a different experience. A better one!

1. The Lord of the Rings (The Fellowship of the Ring was the first in the trilogy)
2. The Simarillion
3. Bilbo Baggins
4. invisible
5. treasure

I've never seen The Hobbit, but I read it. I also read LOTR in high school and, eventually, watched all three movies.

I was also a BIG fan of C.S. Lewis and the Narnia Chronicles, in particular.

Please do check out the "Dunkirk" review. It got several "likes", which is nice! :)
