Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 3rd April, 2018.

3rd April, 2018.

Hmmm …

I’m actually due a blood test, today.

At Brentwood Community Hospital.

One that ties in to the CT scan I’m due to have, next week: basically, the hospital need to check my kidney function, so they know they can do the test, safely.

I’ve got the card that tells Brentwood Hospital where to send the result.

But … totally lost the plot.

Or, at least, the card the tells me WHEN the appointment is!

Looks like I’m making a phone call!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Theodore Kaczynski was arrested on 3rd April, 1996.   Which explosive figure was he accused of being?
Q2) 3rd April, 1925, saw the birth of the late politician, Tony Benn.   He famously renowned his title in 1963.   What WAS what title?
Q3) The 100th Boat Race was held: on 3rd February, 1954.   Which side won?
Q4) The first General Secretary of the Communist Party was named on 3rd April, 1922.   The first person to hold the post was Joseph Stalin.   Who replaced Stalin, in the succeeding post of First Secretary?
Q5) Finally … 3rd April, 1882, America’s Old West saw Robert Ford shot who: Billy the Kid, Jesse Jame or Deputy Town Marshal Wyatt Earp?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 2nd April saw a spree shooting take place: in Fort Hood, Texas.   In which year?
A1) 2014.
Q2) 2nd April, 2012 saw a mass shooting take place: in Oikos University.   In which US state was this?
Q3) Red Rum bagged his third Grand National win: on 2nd April, 1977.   The race is traditionally run at which course?
A3) Aintree.
Q4) The US government passed the Coinage Act on 2nd April, 1792: establishing the US Mint, in the process.   Does it print the USA’s paper money?
A4) No: that’s the job of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing!
Q5) Finally … 2nd April, 1725, saw the birth of explorer, adventurer and writer, Giacomo Casanova.   He was born in what’s now which country?
A5) Italy.
Here’s a thought …
“A city is where you can sign a petition, boo the chief justice, fish off a pier, gaze at a hippopotamus, buy a flower at the corner, or get a good hamburger or a bad girl at 4 a.m. A city is where sirens make white streaks of sound in the sky and foghorns speak in dark grays. San Francisco is such a city.”
Herb Caen, April 3, 1916 to February 1, 1997.
And a song …

That line still shocks me …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I just wish it could have been sunnier for you, Olga: that’s a HELL of a memory to have of moving home.   Either way, I hope it goes well!   (There’s possibly still stuff you’ve lost, over the years: which will probably turn up, now …)

†        Yep, that was a pun, Debbi!   :D   Although it’s a bit late to be a hot cross pun, they usually only come out on Good Friday … That wasn’t a pun, just a bad rhyme … um … (Hang on, you’ve visited the printing Bureau?   And weren’t …  um … tempted … ?)

I was on a tour with a group. We were kept separated from the piles of dollar bills by a plate glass window and a fair height.

Casablanca is an old movie. Despite its racial faux pas, it's still awesome! There are worse examples of black people portrayed in old movies of that era. Ever see Birmingham in the Charlie Chan movies? Hoo boy!

1. the Unabomber

4. Nikita Krushchev
