The Man in the High Castle — Series 4 Episodes 7: No Masters But Ourselves — A Review

4th December, 2019.

*Spoilers*

Yes: it’s official.

My left shoulder aches!

And I think I know why.

I’m jobhunting at the moment: and doing a course that’s supposed to help us with interview technique, CV writing, what have you.

I’m left handed, so you know … and haven’t done this much handwriting in ages.

Which is what I think’s causing the issue …

Writing in European scripts isn’t exactly what you call painless, if you’re a southpaw …

At any rate … ?

It’s a Wednesday: one that, for various reasons, I’ve had off.

And I wanted to watch TV …

To be more specific?

The next episode of series four of The Man in the High Castle …

Episode 7 — No Masters But Ourselves — opens at a BCR base: where Bell Mallory is stirring up the troops, and guiding them through the dangerous task of mass bomb making.

The group … ?   Plan a massive strike against the Japanese Pacific States.

One that goes more successfully than they possibly imagine.

Their bombs go off as Robert Childan (Brennan Brown) is summoned before Inspector Kido (Joel de la Fuente).

After the Inspector made sure Admiral Yamori has — literally — signed his own death warrant.

On the East Coast?   Helen has appeared on TV: trying to prevent any moves against her husband.

Juliana and Wyatt (Alexa Davalos and Jason O’Mara) have been spying on Reichsmarshall Smith’s children, to see if they present any kind of weakness: but soon realise they would be better off targeting Helen.

All this?

Comes to a head: when the Emperor himself appears on TV …

And drops a bombshell.

I have to say, this is a beautifully tense episode.

Especially as it concentrates on the BCR: showing us quite how passionately committed they are.

Committed … and effective: as their actions led to Japan pulling out of the Pacific States.

Frankly?

I’m looking forward to the next episode: I want to see where this goes … !
