Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 16-1-2022: Dian Fossey

16th January 2022.

I have to confess, I caught another episode of The Evil of the Daleks, on Friday.

The written review’s here, so you know.

There’s a video equivalent, as well.

I think I can say the series was made in different times.

The Daleks?   Actually get physically violent at one character.

Yes, I know we see them shooting people: but, to a certain extent?   That’s cartoon violence.

Actually physically pushing someone around, and pushing them over … ?

Is quite something.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Debbi† and Mum‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        16th January, 1932, saw the birth of zoologist, Dian Fossey.   She was famous for studying what: mountain gorillas or lowland gorillas?

Q2)        More to the point, who played Fossey in the film, Gorillas in the Mist?

Q3)        She studied gorillas in which African country: Rwanda, Zambia or Zaire?

Q4)        Fossey worked with Biruté Galdikas — who studied orang utans — and Jane Goodall.   What did Goodall study: chimps, gorillas or lemurs?

Q5)        Finally?   And sadly?   Fossey was murdered: in which year of the 1980s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Hill Street Blues debuted on 15th January of which year: 1981, 1982 or 1983?
A1)        1981.

Q2)        On which US TV channel: ABC, NBC or CBS?
A2)        NBC.

Q3)        It was filmed, where: New York, Chicago or Los Angeles?
A3)        Los Angeles.

Q4)        The series is a what: whodunnit, police procedural or murder mystery?
A4)        A police procedural.

Q5)        Finally … ? How many Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series did the show win: two, three or four?
A5)        Four.
Here’s a thought …
“When you realise the value of all life, you dwell less on what is past and concentrate more on the preservation of the future.”
Dian Fossey’s last diary entry.
And a video …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        That’s a sensible move, Olga.   Not smoking, that is.   I think the point was it was it’s supposed to be enjoyable.   At least, it was when I was about 17 or so …
        Actually avoiding politics is possibly a good idea … it’s a bit of a swamp, isn’t it … ?

It was quite something, wasn’t it, Debbi?   I’ve this abiding memory of Detective Belker, growling at people … !   (Ye GODS, cigars?   In a food prep area … ?)

        Hello, Mum!

Q4) Chimpanzees

Q5) 1985
Yes. I don't know why but I ended up watching the first episode of Mad Men, where they are dealing with an advertising campaign for Lucky Strikes, right at the moment when all the studies were coming up saying that smoking definitely killed, and it seems weird now to see so many people smoking in a TV series, but, of course, it was as it was, and seen as cool as well. By the way, have you ever watched "Thank You For Smoking?" It is far from a perfect movie (I don't believe the romantic storyline, for one), but it has some great moments and quite a twisted sense of humour.
Enjoy your Sunday.
