The Daily Teaser — 25-5-2015

Oh, heck … that’s sounding worse than I thought …

If you remember, I wrote, yesterday, of the deaths of a family in Didcot, in Oxfordshire.

I thought, at the time, that it was a good old fashioned murder-suicide.

It sounds like it wasn’t.   Police are seeking the mother’s eldest child — a chap called Jed Allen — in connection with the deaths.

This is sounding … worse than I though …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring nine out of ten.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 25th May saw Argentina and Chile both issue versions of their constitutions.   Name either of the relevant years.
Q2) More to the point … ?   Which country issued their constitution, first?
Q3) Who, on 25th May, 1935, broke three world records at an athletics meeting in Ohio?
Q4) 25th May, 1977, saw the original US release of Star Wars.   The first spin-off film is due to be released in 2016: what — so far — is that film’s planned name?
Q5) The Phoenix lander landed in Green Valley: on 25th May, 2008.   It, and the Valley, are on which planet?
Q6) Finally … 25th May, 2011, saw the last episode broadcast: of which TV show?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 24th May, 1976, saw California wine do very well: in the competition known as the Judgement of where?
A1) Paris.
Q2) The competition featured white wine made from which grape: Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay or Riesling?
Q3) Which French region is noted for that grape: Alsace, Burgundy or Corsica?
A3) Burgundy.

Q8) Alsace wine is made where: France, Germany or Austria?
A8) France: although the region has alternated between France and Germany for may years.
Q9) Champagne, Crémant, Cava and Prosecco are sparkling wines.   In other words, they’re fizzy.   Which gas makes these wines fizz?
Q10) Finally … Wines that are a pinkish colour are known as what?
A10) Rosé.   (It’s ALSO called ‘blush,’ by New World wine fans.)
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I’m not quite as cool as I would like to be, really.”

Ian McKellen, born 25th May, 1939.
And this tune …

Enjoy Towel Day.

*        Tuscany’s in Italy, Debbi!   Don’t tell Rick you said that! :D   (At ANY rate … ?   Did you know that — on TOP of being Towel Day — it’s also The Glorious 25th.   It’s a reference to Night Watch†: and if we can get some, many of Sir Terry’s fan’s will be wearing lilac.   How DO they rise up … )

†        It, Thud and Nation are generally considered his best work …
