The Daily Teaser — 2-3-2016: The Pound

Right then … !

I’ve manage to put those in.

I mentioned, yesterday, that I’d had the letter from my landlords: telling me my rent had gone up by two  pence.

And that I’d need to take them into Brentwood Council.

Which I’ve now done.

My only problem … ?

Is that I’ve no idea how long any decision will take.

Partly … ?   Apparently, they’ve had delays, because they’ve had to investigate this little lot.

But mostly … ?

I suspect the usual amount of delays one gets when a large organisation gets a LOT of Work to do at one time.

Oy veh …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 2nd March, 1797, saw the first £1 and £2 banknotes issued by England’s central bank.   What’s the smallest denomination of banknote, currently issued?
Q2) The UK’s central bank now issues banknotes.   What’s that central bank called?
Q3) The UK’s currency is the pound … what?
Q4) The ‘£’ symbol used to represent the pound is a stylized version of which letter?
Q5) Finally … the symbol — and letter — represent which Latin word?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 1st March is Saint David’s Day.   Saint David is the patron saint of which country of the UK?
A1) Wales.
Q2) He’s also the patron saint of Naas.   Naas is the county town — capital, as it were — of County Kildare.   Town and county are where?
A2) The Republic of Ireland.
Q3) Saint David is the patron saint of Pembrokeshire: one of the biggest counties in its country of the UK.   What’s the administrative centre of Pembrokeshire?
Q4) Saint David is said to have founded churches in his native country: and in what’s now Devon and Cornwall.  He’s also said to have founded churches, where: Brittany, Catalonia or the Isle of Mann?
A4) Brittany.
Q5) Finally … name one of the two colours featured on the flag of Saint David.
A5) Black or yellow.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“That doesn’t mean, of course, that the Pound here in Britain, in your pocket or purse or in your bank, has been devalued.”

Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
And this Pink Floyd song …

Enjoy your day …

*        Oh, TELL me about bureaucracy, Olga‡ … !   Those forms I’ve put in will be … a while …

†        Oh, I missed that, Debbi‡!   Congratulations!   (Here’s hoping it gets commissioned as a result!)

‡        Is it just me, or have I just done five days worth of themed Teasers?   Wow … !

I can imagine. I know it's no consolation but here in Spain is the same (a very article story by a romantic writer Mariano José de Larra it's called 'Vuelva Usted Mañana' (Come back tomorrow) about dealing with red tape a few centuries back. Things don't change.
