The Daily Teaser — 29-3-2016

Hmmm …

I’ve got last night’s episode of Gotham on, in the background.

Mr Freeze is doing his horribly horrible Freeze thing to people: and in the Gotham take on the Batman mythos, has a sympathetic motivation.

Oh … and Penguin’s ended up in Arkham Asylum: having something of a Spartacus moment …

But that’s not all that caught my eye.   During the ad break, I saw a trailer for the upcoming Warcraft movie.

Not something I think I’d be going for.

I’ve picked up the impression, over the years, that, while video and role-playing games make for great games, they don’t necessarily make for great movies.

Which I can’t help but think is a shame.

In part … ?   Because that doesn’t necessarily do the games any favours.

But also means film companies aren’t necessarily looking to books as a source for a film.

Which is possibly a bigger shame.

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 29th March, 2014, saw the first same sex marriages happen in which part of the UK: England and Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland?
Q2) A European country became the first to ban smoking in the workplace: on 29th March, 2004.   Which country?
Q3) NASA’s Mariner 10 probe flew past Mercury, for the first time: on 29th March, 1974.   How long is Mercury’s year: 78 days, 88 days or 98 days?
Q4) The night of 28th March, and early morning of 29th March, 1942, saw the first successful bombing raid of a German city, by the RAF.   Which German city?
Q5) Finally … Dr John Pemberton brewed the original batch of Coca Cola on 29th March, 1886.   Which African nut is used to make the drink?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 28th March, 1965, saw a civil rights rally reach Montgomery, in Alabama.   Which doctor led that rally?
Q2) 28th March, 1972, saw the birth of actor and comedian, Nick Frost.   In which series did he play space commander, Michael Henderson?
Q3) 28th March, 1920, saw silent movie star, Mary Pickford, get married: to whom?
A3) Douglas Fairbanks, Sr.
Q4) 28th March, 1871, saw the first meeting of the ruling council of what: the League of Nations, the Paris Commune or the Republic of Haiti?
A4) The Paris Commune.
Q5) Finally … Which German occupied French port was successfully raided by Britain’s Royal Navy: on 28th March, 1942?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“The enemies of the Soviet state calculate that the heavy loss we have borne will lead to disorder and confusion in our ranks. But their expectations are in vain: bitter disillusionment awaits them.”

Lavrentiy Beria 29 March 1899 – 23 December 1953.
And this tune …

Enjoy your day.

*        OK, Olga: hopefully, we’ll catch you then!   (Shame in one sense: I’ve got a themed set, tomorrow, and, as I’m sure Debbi will tell you, I DO like showing those off.)

†        :D   Oh, Debbi, got a BIT of a themed one coming, tomorrow: JUST so you know.   (Wish Rick a Happy Birthday, for me!)
