The Daily Teaser — 16-4-2016

Hmmm …

I THINKING I’m going to need to get creative …

I follow all sorts of things — and people — on Twitter.

Including one or two websites.

One of which — a charity that also publishes a quarterly magazine that’s published in a well known clothes shop — recently asked for volunteer contributors.

Guess who volunteered.

?

Hopefully?

I can motivate myself to come up with something for them.

It’d be …

Well, I think it would be all sorts of good.

~≈†≈~

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and Video …

Q1) 16th April, 1894, saw football club, Ardwick AFC, register itself as which modern football team?
Q2) 16th April, 1962, saw the most trusted man in America become the news anchor for CBS Evening News.   Who was he?
Q3) 16th April, 1912, saw Harriet Quimby become the first woman to fly an aeroplane: over what?
Q4) 16th April, 1457BC, is considered the likeliest date of the Battle of Megiddo.   It was fought between an army from Canaan: and an army from which country?
Q5) Finally … The US Army liberated Oflag IV-C: on 16th April, 1945.   Oflag IV-C is better known how?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 93 fans were killed at the Hillsborough football stadium: at a match between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.   On 15th April of which year?
A1) 1989.
Q2) 15th April, 1998, saw the death of Pol Pot.   Pot had been the dictator who’d ruled which Asian country?
A2) Cambodia.
Q3) 15th April, 1966, saw the birth of singer, and glamour model, Sam Fox.   She originally made her name as a topless model for which British newspaper?
A3) The Sun.
Q4) 15th  April, 1802, saw William Wordsworth and his sister spot the patch of flowers that inspired him to write I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud.   What were the flowers?
A4) Daffodils.
Q5) Finally … 15th April, 1994, saw the end of the trade talks that established which trade body?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Politicians only get to the top because they have no qualifications to detain them at the bottom.”

Peter Ustinov, 16 April 1921 – 28 March 2004.
And this tune …

Have a good day!

*        That looks like a powerful movie, there, Olga: I might just have to check that out.   I don’t know if it and the novel takes a cue from the Bulger case … But I can’t help but wonder what happened to Ropbert Thmpson: effectively, the real world equivalent to Boy A.   (Venables, the other murderer … ?   Sounds like the nastier of the two.)

†        Just read it, Debbi!   Sounds like you’ve a LONG weekend ahead of you!   Here’s hoping I get to see it, at some point!

Q1) Manchester City F.C.
Q2) Walter Cronkite
Q3) The English Channel
Q4) Egypt
Q5) Colditz
Yes, it was. I remember watching it on Channel 4 when it came out (I just happened to catch an ad a few days before it was showing and was impressed by it. In other countries it was released as a movie in the cinemas, as I saw it advertised in France shortly after. I think it helped the career of Andrew Garfield, whom I'd never seen before but does an incredible job of it.) Yes, Venables sounds like the leader of the two. One hopes the other one, away from him, has a chance... At least we haven't heard anything about him, that's good. (Either that or he is cleverer and hasn't got caught, but let's not go there.
The recommendations for treating antisocial personality are starting very young (around 3 years of age) but how many are you going to detect at that age...
