Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 18-9-2016

Oh, for heavens sake … !

You’ve heard the phrase ‘ear-worm,’ yes?

Basically?

It means the song that — for whatever reason — starts playing its way through your head.

Ever since I’ve woken up?

This has been stuck in there …

Why?

Well, I don’t know.

If I DID … ?   That would possibly make me rich!

In other news?

In other news, I had an interview, yesterday: for a job in Billericay.

And, unfortunately?

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the job.

I did, however, get some helpful feedback: apparently, there was a question I’d misunderstood.

Now I think of it?

I just wish I’d asked which bloody question!

Every little helps … but even so …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring six out of six.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Britain’s first Hanoverian king finally arrived in the UK, on 18th September, 1714: after acceding to the throne on 1st August.   Which King was it?
Q2) Emperor Constantine won the Battle of Chrysopolis, on 18th September, 324.  Constantine was WHICH Roman Emperor: Constantine the Great, Constantine the Reeve or Constantine the Wild?
Q3) Who was elected as the US’s first female Senator: on 18th September, 1948?   (First as in first to be elected as a senator: not the first to be a senator … )
Q4) Jamaica joined the United Nations: on 18th September, 1962.   What’s the capital of Jamaica?
Q5) Finally … the Cygnus Orb D1 was launched on 18th September, 2013.   The craft was an unmanned cargo ship: delivering supplies to where?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) The US Constitution was signed: on 17th September, 1787.   In which US city?
Q2) The Camp David Accords were signed: on 17th September, 1978.   The Accords were signed by two countries.   Name either one of the two countries.
A2) Egypt or Israel.
Q3) More to the point, Camp David is the country retreat … of whom?
A3) The US President.
Q4) Both North and South Korea joined the United Nations on 17th September.   Of which year?
A4) 1991.
Q5) The Linux kernel — the core of Linux — was released on 17th September, 1991.   Its Designer, Linus Torvalds, is from which European country?
A5) Finland.
Q6) Finally … A noted protest movement started in Zurcotti Park: on 17th September, 2011.   It was known as Occupy … where?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Remember you belong to nature, not it to you.”
Grey Owl, September 18, 1888 – April 13, 1938.
And this song …

Have a good day.

Personally?

I’m going to do more online job-hunting: I’ve had a hint or two …

*        Cheers, Olga: It’s appreciated!   At least this morning, I can say two out of three jobs have been in touch with me to say I hadn’t got the job.  But at least I’d got the call!   I can move forward, with some handy feedback.   Here’s hoping the hiring event I go to on Tuesday goes … more positively.

†        Glad to hear it, Debbi!   (Did I tell you what got me reading TP?   It was a bit of the blurb on the back of the paperback, back in the day.   It said that the story took place on “a flat world, on the back of a giant turtle. (Sex, unknown.)”   That ‘Sex, unknown,’ the daft logic of it, caught me.   After all … what happens to the disc … at mating time … ?)
