Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-12-2017: International Tea Day

Wha … ?

You know, I’ve seen some strange bits of news, occasionally.

Or, at least, odd.

I don’t think I’ve seen everything: that could be tricky, in one lifetime.

But I’ve seen a few things: that made me either laugh, cry, rage, jump up and down, what have you.

Then … ?

Occasionally, you’ll get the just plain silly.

Like this.

Just so you know?

Engineers at a small ISP have successfully set up an internet connection over six foot of wet string: achieving speeds of some 3.5 megabits per second.

The mind boggles.

At least, mine does.

Mostly where the BBC have turned off the comments on the piece.

Possibly sensible.

The amount of people in rural parts of the UK saying that’s faster than their broadband connection must be big!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video

Q1) 15th December is International Tea Day.   The tea plant is native to where: Africa, Asia or America?
Q2) The tea plant’s name — Camellia sinensis — reflects its origin in which country?
Q3) If you’re making tea in a samovar, you’re making tea, where: China, Britain, the USA or Russia?
Q4) Matcha is a type of tea.   Drunk where: Japan, Russia or Argentina?
Q5) Finally … Nilgira, Assam and Darjeeling, are all teas from which country?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) The first human spaceship to fly past Venus did so on 14th December of which year?
A1) 1962.
Q2) Which ship was it: the Mariner 1, 2 or 3?
A2) Mariner 2.
Q3) Venus is which: the second, third or fourth planet from the sun?
A3) The second.
Q4) Venus’s orbit around the sun is roughly how many Earth days long: 224, 234 or 244?
A4) 224.
Q5) Finally … what’s longer, Venus’s year or Venus’s day?
A5) Venus’ day.
Here’s a thought …
“Love and scandal are the best sweeteners of tea.”
Henry Fielding.
And a song or three …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day!

I’ll be making the tea …

*        I intend to, Olga.   Although right now?   We’ve got rain, rather than snow.   For which I’m eternally grateful.   (It’s not even the prices that are the problem with Kensington & Chelsea: it’s the amount of social housing that’s the issue.   There’s not enough.   There’s a couple of Grenfell sized tower blocks in Brentwood: Brentwood couldn’t rehome that many people.)

†        Well … most English people grew up in England, Debbi: I know I did … !    :D   (I have to admit, I don’t think I’ve seen anything with her in it: although her Wikipedia entry says she did a couple of Twilight Zone episodes, both as an actress and a director.   Oh, and she’s from Herne Hill‡ … Ummm … )

‡        Which was ALSO where Sax Rohmer came from.

Q2) China
Q3) Russia
Q4) Japan
Q5) India
Precisely. I can't think the local government could afford to buy or build property in that area for social housing, even if there was any space or empty properties available...
I love the songs and I'm a big fan of the second. It is so true to life! (I don't drink tea or coffee but for so many people in the Uk a cup of tea seems to be the answer to all the problems.....)
Take care.
