Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-12-2017: Gis A Job

Right …

It’s a Sunday that I’ve got off!

Yay … !

Says I, vaguely aware I sound like a cheerleader!

At any rate … it’s a Sunday off … that means we get to visit my aunty Bella, down in Kent: which got cancelled, last week, because of the weather.

It ALSO gives me a chance to drop off some presents with Grandma, before a certain young man realises Santa is Grandma shaped!

Here’s hoping it goes well.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Debbi on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video

Q1) Actor, Bernard Hill, was born on 17th December, 1944.   In which series^ — series — did he play Yosser Hughes?
Q2) The characters in that series laid what?
Q3) Hill famously appeared in The Lord of the Rings: as whom?
Q4) Which Beatle did Hill play, in A Journey in the Life?
Q5) Finally … Bernard Hill is one of only a few actors to have been in three films to have won a Best Picture Oscar.   Name any one of them …
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Kazakhstan declared independence from Russia: on 16th December, 1991.   What’s the capital of Kazakhstan?
A1) Astana.
Q2) 16th December, 1977, saw the Queen formally open a Tube line that went from London, to Heathrow airport.   That line is part of which London Underground line?
A2) The Piccadilly Line.
Q3) The Battle of the Bulge started on 16th December: of which year of WW2?
A3) 1944.
Q4) Noël Coward was born on 16th December, 1899.   In which 1969 film did he play Mr Bridger?
A4) The Italian Job.
Q5) Finally … Anna Anderson was born: on 16th December, 1896.   Which member of the Russian royal family did she claim to be?

Here’s some personal history …
“There was an undercurrent of poverty throughout my childhood. We lived with my grandmother in her two-bedroom flat, and I slept with my parents.”
Bernard Hill, born on 17th December, 1944.
And some video …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day …

*        I’ll have to have a look at that, Olga: although I possibly wouldn’t notice how much tea’s getting drunk.   Cultural norms‡, and all that!   I do know Penistone’s not the only town with a zombie movie.   Yep: Welcome to Essex was filmed in Brentwood.   I don’t know what clogged up the High Street, more, them: or The Only Way Is Essex!   (It’s not been released, yet, as far as I can see …)

†        Or how the Italians feel about Pizza, Debbi.   I used to work in Brentwood’s original Pizza Hut, many years ago.   And came away with the impression that any one from Naples would … well, wouldn’t call the Deep Pan pizza, a pizza!

‡        One thing I noticed in the US version of House of Cards?   Is that the main characters — at least, while they’re in the White House — seem to drink tea.   Rather than coffee!   Bloody odd: I know Debbi and Rick both hit the espresso!

^        I’ve never actually seen the thing.   Which is possibly a lose for me.   The series is considered one of the British series, with a performance from Hill — especially in the final episode — that’s considered outstanding …

Q1) Boys from the Blackstuff
Q2) Tarmac
Q3) King Théoden of Rohan
Q4) John Lennon
Q5) Ghandi, Titanic, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The Harold movie is pretty humorous and sweet too. Of course, plenty of zombie movies in the UK (both serious and not so much).
I can't say I've watched it either, but I'm curious now. Enjoy your pre-Christmas day off.
