Modern technology has a tendency to beep …

Quite a bit.

Even as I speak … ?

Both my phone, and my tablet, are beeping at me: in a desperate attempt to tell me I have a message.

A former workmate, telling me she’s made a move in Words With Friends.

Or something.

But it IS odd, when your phone, and tablet, do it … seconds apart … 

And then get told what the time is, by you computer* … 

At any rate … ?



I’ve got beeping going on … 

Which isn’t why I’m writing … 

No … 

I’ve been at it again … 

Catching another episode of House of Cards, series six …

Episode 3 — Chapter 68 — opens with Judge Vincent Abruzzo (Ron Canada) meeting with President Underwood (Robin Wright), in his campaign to be nominated to the Supreme Court.

A campaign funded — in part — by brother and sister, Bill and Annett Shepard (Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane).

In the mean time … ?   In the mean time, Claire has been … consulting … with Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly), her husband’s former chief of staff.

Claire wants to make sure Cathy Durant, the former Secretary of State, is not working for the Shepards.

Permanently.

All this, and Tom Hammerschmidt (Boris McGiver) of the Washington Herald, is also seeing a lot of Doug Stamper.

Tom knows the public facts about Frank Underwood’s death … 

And isn’t convinced …

Yes: I’ll say it again … 

With Spacey’s removal from the series, it’s suffering, a bit.

Not not necessarily much.

On the other hand?

With episode 3, Chapter 68, what ever you want to call it, Robin Wright seems to be picking up the reigns … 

And cracking the whip well.

Right at the start of this episode?   The off-camera Judge Abruzzo tells the president how he’s never had sex with farm animals … 

Causing Claire to throw us — you and me — a look that clearly tells us what we should make of that line.

Hail to the Chief, indeed.
