Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd January, 2019

2nd January, 2018.

Yes … it’s now officially the start of the working year … for those of us in work, that is.

Saying that … ?

It’s also the day that regular the local Job Centre reopens: so that those of us who are job hunting can access the services we need to find work.

So, in that sense?

Time has moved us — or me, at least — forward.

To today: where I’m due an appointment with my work coach.

We’re going to have to see what he suggests.

Frankly?   The last time I was unemployed for a while, I was out of a job for long enough that I was put on a Work Programme supposed to help me find a job.

Going by the Wikipedia entry?   It looks like that’s been finished.

I’m grateful.

The thing was less use than a chocolate teapot.

You could eat the teapot.

Just so you know, though … ?

I actually managed to catch the Dr Who New Year’s Day special: Resolution.

You can read my review, here, if you’re interested.

But … ?

Suffice to say I thought it was a great little episode: although I think Jude, my nephew?   Thought there were a few boring bits, a lot of scary bits — you can see people’s skeletons when they get shot by the Dalek — and plenty of action.

Oh …

And a Dalek that had to build itself, and laugh as it went …

Wowsa …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*, and  Olga† putting in their answers: with Olga on ten out of ten and Badwolf on eight.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 2nd January, 1492, saw Muhammed 12th hand over Granada: to Ferdinand and Isabella.   Granada is now in which European nation … ?

A9) 1950.
Q10) Finally … ?   It’s 2019.   What year is it in the Holocene Era?
A10) 12,019.   (The era adds ten thousand years to the current one: and dates from when scientist tell us humanity started using agriculture.)
Here’s a thought …
“Now God be praised, I die contented.”
General James Wolfe, 2 January 1727 – 13 September 1759.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I’ve not managed to correct the video, Bad Wolf: but the third question is here on the blog, and I’ve replied to you with it, on YouTube.

†        Here’s hoping, Olga!   So long as I don’t get shoved onto a work programme again, I’m laughing!

Q1) Spain
Q2) Quebec
Q3) A Murder of Crows
Q4) In the Name of the Father (Such a fabulous actor. He always made his presence felt, no matter how small the role)
Q5) The Team event (so “eventing” is an event… Isn’t language weird sometimes!)
I hope they've come up with something better. Keep us posted! (Here the official holiday season finishes on the 6th of January, for Epiphany, as the three wise men are supposed to bring presents to kids who have behaved well. When I was a child that was when you got your presents, and that meant you didn't have much time to play before you went back home, but most kids these days get some presents on Xmas and the rest on the 6th. I will be helping out at several events for kids Sants3Ràdio is helping at, including a parade on Saturday, so it's going to be a busy week).
