Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-5-2019: The Iron Road

10th May, 2019.

Yes: I think we can safely say the I and my nephew, Jude … ?

Had too much pizza, last night!

Saying that … ?

The past few weeks, I’ve baby sat Jude: although that’s possibly the wrong phrase to use, given he’s eight.

Eight … possibly going on fourteen.

At ANY rate … ?

At any rate, yesterday was Thursday … which meant Jude Day.

And, JUST to be different?

We had pizza delivered: one Margherita from him, one pepperoni passion for me.

That …

That and the fact I’ve worked out how to do screen recording on my phone, could record audio with Quicktime, and that Jude* likes the fact we can use iMovie to make his voice sound funny?

And could edit stuff together,  with totally amateur movie making?

Well …

~≈§≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf†, Olga‡, and Debbi^ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The First Transcontinental Railroad was completed: on 10th May of which year?
Q2) It was completed when the two ends met at Promontory Summit.   In which US state?
Q3) The Railroad went from terminals in Iowa and Nebraska, all the way to Oakland Long Wharf.   Oakland Long Wharf is in which Californian city?
Q4) The Central Pacific portion of the railroad was built — in part — by labourers from where?
Q5) Finally … ?   The rails on the Railroad were ceremonially joined together: with a ceremonial golden … what?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 9th May is Anniversary of Dianetics Day.   A big festival for the Church of whom … ?
Q2) Which (then) country joined NATO: on 9th May, 1955?
Q3) 9th May, 1949, saw the birth of singer-songwriter, Billy Joel.   What was the name of his debut album?
Q4) 9th May, 1962, saw the birth of singer, Paul Heaton.   Name either one of the two bands he was the lead singer for.
A4) The Housemartins or the Beautiful House.
Q5) The Treaty of Windsor — the world’s oldest diplomatic and still in use alliance — was signed on 9th May, 1386.   Between England … and where?
A5) Portugal.
Here’s a thought …
“At North Platte, they were having a good time gambling, drinking, and shooting at each other.”
Maj. Henry C. Parry on the denizens of the first construction camps built around the railroad.
And some musicª …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Jude worked out, pretty quickly, that you keep clips you’re going to use in one iMovie window,   that you can see what stuff looks like in another, and that you can move stuff around, in the window at the bottom.   Oh, and the bottom window shows you what the final video will look like.

†        Morning, Badwolfº!   How was the mention on YouTube?   :D

‡        Right … I’ve got that added to my Amazon List, Olgaº: Furious Hours might have to wait awhile, as it’s pricey!   But it certainly looks like an interesting case!   Jude certainly caned my battery, last night: he’s found of Score Match, it seems … (He liked the fact we could make his voice sound silly, too.)

^        Yep: it’s definitely familiar, Debbiº … !   :D   I know I’ve added The Cooler to my Amazon list. I keep meaning to read it.   Oh, by the way, I THINK Jude like’s the look of iMovie.   The pitch shifting made him laugh.   (It’s not Sir Terry narrating, I’m afraid.   But it IS Christopher Lee doing the voice of Death.   He did it again in Soul Music and Word Sisters.)

ª        I’ve heard Johnson’s original of Sweet Home Chicago.   ‘Scary’ doesn’t start …

º        You know, there’s a SCARY possibility Jude might ask Mummy for a Mac, as well as an Xbox …
