Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-7-2019: All Along the Watchtower

1st July, 2019.

It’s got to be, right now … ?

I’ve a little bit of shopping money: thanks to a little bit of inheritance money.

I have to admit, I owe my sisters a big thank you, there: they know why.

At any rate … ?   I’ve an oven due to come on the 17th, a new microwave, and a new TV.

A haircut is comparatively cheap.

~≈†≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Badwolf†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The Watchtower, the magazine of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, was first published on 1st July: of which year?
Q2) It’s full (current) title is The Watchtower Announcing … what?
Q3) It was founded by whom?
Q4) The organisation he founded, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, are part of a bigger movement: called the Bible … what?
Q5) Finally … ?   Both the Witnesses, and The Watchtower, are headquartered in which US state?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 30th June, 1962, saw the birth of singer, Julianne Regan.   Which band was the singer for?
Q2) 30th June, 1997, saw the UK hand over what to China?
A2) Hong Kong.
Q3) 30th June, 1966, saw the birth of controversial boxer, Mike Tyson.   In which year did he first become WBC heavyweight champion?
A3) 1986.
Q4) 30th June is Asteroid Day.   The date was chosen to mark an asteroid strike, where: North America, South America, Europe or Russia?
A4) Russia: near the Tunguska River, in Siberia.
Q5) Finally … ?   The Regina Cyclone hit Canada: on 30th June, 1912.   Which Canadian Province did it hit?
Here’s a thought …
“This is the first number of the first volume of ‘Zion’s Watch Tower,’ and it may not be amiss to state the object of its publication.”
From the first volume of The Watchtower.
And a video … that has nothing to do with the subject …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Oh, cheers, Olga: I’ll have a read of those, later.   I notice the e-waste chap’s got in trouble for giving away Windows install discs with computers he’d repaired.   Which is silly, from where I’m sitting!   Saying that?   The first Mac I got was a second hand one from a recycler, who put a version of Linux called Ubuntu on the Macs and PCs he sold: as it was a) free, and b) had no associated copyright issues^.   They write that into the license.

†        Morning, Anne!   How was the weekend … ?

‡        Ah HA!   The technical stuff!   That’s done it now, Debbi: I’ve got this image of you rolling up your sleeves, and waving a spanner about!

^        The license for open source software — including Linux distributions like Ubuntu — means the makers can give it away for free … and that we can pass it on for free: so long as we tell people where we got it from.   So if I want to sell you a second hand computer, I can sell it too you with Ubuntu, without getting sued: so long as I tell you where I got it, and what changes I’ve made.

Hmm weekend, well didn't get off to a great start, My ex-mom inlaw ordered us a Chinese however only half the meal turned up, the man forgot the rice. So had to ring back get the rice, he had charged us so was annoying. So sat for half an hour wondering whether to eat first half or wait &heat it back up which felt annoying. Chilled out rest weekend watching Years and Years, back to back loved it

His point was that the software without the code was useless and the people using the computer would have to have or buy a license. He claims he went to all those companies with suggestions but, of course, they're only interested in selling new models and making more money...
Good news about your inheritance.
