Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-2-2020: Saint Valentine’s Day …

14th February, 2020.

Right … it’s official.

I’ve started reading a book … in bed.

That’s actually been a habit of mine for a while, to be honest.

The one I’ve started … ?

Actually isn’t a romance: I’m not a romance kind of person …

No …

I’m three chapters in: and it’s proving to be interesting stuff.

Even if I am finding Eunice, the AI character, reminiscent of the Dixie Flatline: the personality construct in Neuromancer

Not that I mind.

You have to like consistency, don’t you … ?
“I’m dead, Case. Got enough time in on this Hosaka to figure that one.”
Dixie Flatline, Neuromancer, William Gibson.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 14th February is Saint Valentine’s Day.   Saint’s Valentine’s skull is in Basilica of Saint Maria in Cosmedin.   Saint Maria’s is in which Italian city?
Q2) The first Saint Valentine’s day was in which year: AD496, AD498 or AD499?
Q3) There’s a Saint Valentine’s Church in Rome: that was built in 1960.   For whom: visiting Jesuits, visiting Orthodox clergy or visiting Olympic athletes?
Q4) Alla hjärtans dagAll Hearts’ Day — is marked in which country?
Q5) Finally … ?   Valentine, in Haute Garonne… ?   Is in which country?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 13th February is World Radio Day.   Radio waves are between 30 Hertz … and how many gigahertz?
A1) 300.
Q2) Unidirectional, one way, radio transmission, is known as what: simplex, duplex or quadruplex?
A2) Simplex.   (Baby monitors and wireless microphones are simplex broadcasters.)
Q3) Radio Detection And Ranging uses radio waves to find things.   It’s better known as what?
A3) Radar.   The contraction works like this: RAdio Detection And Ranging.
Q4) One radio band is called VHF.   VHF stands for Very Highwhat?
A4) Frequency.
Q5) Finally … ?   Many modern radio stations use DAB.   In other words, Digital Audio what?
Here’s a thought …
“Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.”
Franklin P. Jones.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        It’s worth a go, Olga, it really is: and he’s very handy if you need a quote.   Mind you, so’s William Gibson.   (Gibson’s left handed: what can I tell you … ?)

†        What can I tell you, Debbi?   He’s very quotable … !   And was never actually filmed or recorded: even thought he worked for the BBC for many years.   (Apparently?   The original Room 101 was a conference room at Broadcasting House: where George attended some boring meetings.)

Just as a thought … ?

I mentioned Saint Valentine’s skull in today’s #questions.

It’s got roses on it.

Roses.

It’s not going to help, is it … ?
