Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-2-2020: Counting Coup …

26th February, 2020.

Yep: stuff’s going on, today.

Frankly?

I’m off to hospital: for some simple blood tends.

Mostly to check if I’m diabetic, and to monitor my thyroid medication.

Oh … and check on the heart medication I’m on is working …

Here’s hoping.

It’s officially official … I managed to visit the library.

I’d been told my complaint — that you couldn’t use the mice, left-handedly — had been resolved.

It had.

Essex Library’s IT department have managed to install a shortcut on to the main screen: one that allows access to the relevant settings panel.

Now …

Persuading the library to NOT use Windows … is going to be a job and a half … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The 26th February Incident took place in East Asia.   It was an attempted coup d’etat: against which country’s government?
Q2) The attempt took place in which year?
Q3) The conspirators tried taking that Imperial Palace.   That palace is in which city?
Q4) The coup was organised by members of what: the Army, Airforce or Army Reserve?
Q5) Finally … ?   Most of the conspirators were charge with with: barratry, mutiny or fraud?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 25th February, 2020 is Shrove Tuesday.   What — in the UK — traditionally eaten on Shrove Tuesday?
A1) Pancakes.
Q2) Actor, Sean Astin was born on 25th February, 1971.   Who did he play in the Lord of the Ring trilogy?

Q3) More to the point, Sean’s stepfather, John Astin, played which member of The Addams Family?

A4) Oregon.
Q5) Finally … ?   25th February, 1920, saw the birth of Sin Myung Moon.   What was the name of the church he led?
A5) The Unification Church.   (The more formal name was the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity.)
Here’s a thought …
“The years leading up to the February 26 Incident were marked by a series of outbursts of violence by the young officers and their fellow nationalists against their political opponents.”
From the Wikipedia entry about the Incident.
A film …

And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Thankfully, Olga, Essex has managed to avoid volunteer libraries: at least, in Brentwood and Shenfield.   It strikes me IT support could be an issue, along side getting new stock.   Especially if it’s no longer run by the relevant local council.   How IS Penistone coping on that front, do we know … ?   Oh … and Google has this bad habit: if it notices you reading about, say, rhubarb, it’ll throw lots of stuff about rhubarb at you!   (Oh … we seem to have a missing Debbi … !)

Q1) Japan
Q2) 1936
Q3) Tokyo
Q4) The Imperial Japanese Army
Q5) mutiny
Oh, I have no idea of how Penistone library managed regarding IT. I think I only used their computers a couple of times when I first moved into Penistone. They are still linked to the Barnsley central library, like all the ones around, so I always assumed they must send a proper librarian every so often to keep an eye on things, and I imagine they must do the same with IT technicians. They ran IT free lessons, so... (Unless they have somebody local. One of my neighbours, in the house opposite, ran a local IT company, this one https://eskia.co.uk/). Shame you're so far. I'm sure Duncan would have liked to meet you.
