The Daily Teaser — 17-12-2012

Now, how on EARTH did I manage that … ?

My sleep patterns are … strange, sometimes.   Usually, it takes the alarm on my mobile phone — and occasionally, a herd of horny elephants — to get me out of bed in the morning.

Today, though … ?

Up, out of bed and ready to go, in the space of five minutes.

Strange … !

Let’s get moving on, shall we … ?

Yes … let’s … !

~~~~~~
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi*º putting in her answers: along with bagging 6 out of 6, she’s also managed to flag a fascinating little video about actor, Patrick McGoohan, AND tell us a touch more about the Second Amendment.
Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we?   Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …
Q1) 17th December 1903 saw the Wright Brothers make the world’s first heavier than air flight.   Give either of the pair’ first names’.
Q2) More to the point, what was the name of the brother’s first plane … ?
Q3) That first flight took place in the Kill Devil Hills, four miles away from which North Carolina town … ?
Q4) The Wright Brother’s original plane is on display in the National Air and Space Museum, in the US: the National Air and Space Museum is part of which institute … ?
Q5) And finally … Portions of that plane were taken to the Moon, by which Apollo mission … ?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) During the US War of Independence, 16th December, 1773, was the date of the Boston Tea Party: the protestors who carried this out disguised themselves as what … ?   A1) Mohawk indians.
Q2) More to the points, the group that carried this protest out were called what: the Sons of Anarchy, the Sons of Elendil or the Sons of Liberty … ?   A2) The Sons of Liberty.
Q3) The ‘Tea Party’ is the name of a conservative movement associated with which US party … ?   A3) The Republicans.
Q4) Moving on … 16th December, 1984, saw Mikhail Gorbachev visit the UK: with which British PM did he hold five hours of talks … ?   A4) Margaret Thatcher.
Q5) 16th December, 1942, saw Heinrich Himmler order members of which ethnic group be deported to Auschwitz … ?   A5) The Roma.
Q6) And finally … 16th December, 1431, saw who crowned as King of France … ?   A6) Henry 6th of England.
Enjoy those, everyone.
I’ll leave you with this quote from Leonard of Vinci …
“When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”Leonardo da Vinci.
And with a tune from — appropriately enough — Wings
*        Yeah, the Second Amendment’s been getting a lot of mention in the news over here.   Much as I’m aware the US constitution’s got a lot of good in it, shouldn’t that be going the way of the Enumeration Clause … ?
º        Handy little video, that … !   Although, did you know there was a couple of previous efforts at the theme tune … ?   They make for strange listening …
I totally agree, Paul. That amendment was created for a different time, under different circumstances. I don't think we need it, anymore.
Even if we kept it, it's ridiculous to make guns available to anyone. The First Amendment doesn't allow libel or slander, right? That means there are legal limits on what you can say and write.
Oh, well ... mini-rant over. :)
