Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-4-2017: At Waterloo

You know, Eurovison … ?

Is, as far as I’m aware, is a while away.

But, given the date?

I couldn’t resist the high camp that was and is the theme for today’s teaser.

No, play fair: cheesy pop tunes are hard to come by.

So having a competition where there’s a lot of them?

Is no bad thing.

Even when the contest gets taken over by orcs!

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Debbi a point behind her.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 6th April saw ABBA win Eurovision.   In which year of the 1970s?
Q2) Where were the band from: Norway, Sweden or Denmark?
Q3) Where was the contest held, that year: Brighton, Bristol or Birmingham?
Q4) The band’s name was an acronym: with each letter representing one of the members.   Name one of the members.
Q5) The band’s winning song was called Waterloo.   The song takes its name from the Battle of … where … ?
Q6) The song also featured on ABBA’s second album.   What was that LP called: Ring Ring, Waterloo or ABBA?
Q7) The song, itself, reached which number in the UK Charts?
Q8) The band’s next UK Top Forty hit — I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do — got to where: 37, 38 or 39?
Q9) There’s been a musical — both on stage and on film — named after one ABBA song.   Which ABBA song?
Q10) Finally … what was the name of ABBA’s last UK number one?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) The Akashi Kaikyō Bridge opened in Japan: on 5th April, 1998.   At the time, the Bridge was the world’s largest bridge.   Of which type: Suspension, cable or Pigtail?
Q2) The Prime Minister resigned of the UK: on 5th April, 1955.   Which Prime Minister?
A2) Sir Winston Churchill.
Q3) Count Karl von Spreti was shot on 5th April, 1970: on the streets of the country he was West German ambassador to.   Which Central American country was that?
A3) Guatemala.
Q4) John Rolfe got married: on 5th April, 1614.   Who to?
Q5) Finally … Lothair 1st was crowned, on 5th April, 823.   As king of what’s now where?
A5) Italy.
I give you an observation …
“I made all their videos, apart from the last two, so if you ever see an Abba video on TV then it's my stuff.”
Lasse Hallström.
And possibly the only tune I could play, today …

Have a good day …

*        I know where you’re coming from, Olga.   News from Idlib is … worrying.   At ANY rate?   I’ve a day off, today, so my biggest worry is whether I should dig up series two of Mr Robot, series one of American Horror Story … or The Girl With All the Gifts …

†        That’s the first time I’ve heard the phrase called that, Debbi!   Oh, did you know they’ve both been on Arrow?   And do the convention circuit, occasionally?   Talk about your rock-star welcomes.   (I’d love to see Torchwood back: I’d ALSO like to see more Class.   They’ve left one hell of a cliffhanger …)
