Friday 23 November 2018

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 23-11-2018: Dr Who … ?

23rd November, 2018.

Yep: it’s a Friday.

And the first Friday I’ve not had wages for a while.

Or benefit payments.

Frankly, I’m expecting those, this time next month.

I think that — if things don’t improve — I’m going to have to put in for a hardship payment.

Cie La Vie …

~≈§≈~

At any rate … ?

I’ve enough in my accord to head out, and get a loaf and some milk.

But I’m going to have to wait.

As I’ve a phone interview, today.

Hopefully … ?

It’ll go a little better than others …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 23rd November saw the broadcast of An Unearthly Child: the first episode of Dr Who.   That episode was broadcast in which year?
Q2) The original version of the show ended in 1989: with a story called what?
Q3) The show resumed in 2005: with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, and Billie Piper as his companion.   What was that first episode called?
Q4) Name any one of the current, Thirteenth Doctor’s, three companions.
Q5) Finally … The Thirteenth Doctor is played by Jodie Whittaker.   What was the name of her first complete episode?   (Her first appearance, in Twice Upon A Time, doesn’t count.)
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 22nd November is the feast day of Saint Cecilia.   She’s the patron saint of whom: writers, painters or musicians?
A1) Musicians.
Q2) 22nd November, 1998, saw the death of games player, Stu Ungar.   Which game was he best remembered for playing: Monopoly, Chess or Poker?
A2) Poker.   Seven card Texas Hold ’em, in particular.
Q3) 22nd November, 1984, saw the birth of actress, Scarlett Johansson.   In which film does she play Ashley Parker?
Q4) 22nd November, 1988, saw the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit, unveiled for the first time.   The B-2 is the first what: stealth fighter, stealth bomber or stealth submarine?
Q5) Finally … ?   Writer, Aldous Huxley died on 22nd November, 1963.   What was the title of his first book … ?
Here’s a thought …
“I eat danger for breakfast … I don’t, I prefer cereal. Or croissants. Or those little fried Portuguese‡—never mind, it’s not important.”
The Thirteenth Doctor, Arachnids in The UK.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Oh, my pleasure, Olga!   (I’ve another one, today: by phone.   Here’s hoping!)

†        The Daniel Craig version of Casino Royale’s about the closest I’ve seen, Debbi.   (I hope so: my finances are a mess!)

‡        What little fried Portuguese things?

Q1) 1963
Q2) Survival
Q3) Rose
Q4) Graham O'Brien (Bradley Walsh), Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole) and Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill).
Q5) The Woman Who Fell to Earth
No idea about the little fried Portuguese things. Although the place where my dad was born was very close to Portugal, my parents always went on holiday to Portugal when I was already working in the UK. I have a friend who lives in Lisbon and has invited me to visit her (she is Portuguese as well. We met when we were completing our PhDs at Sussex University), so perhaps I should go at some point. I hear it's beautiful. Best of luck for today's interview, Paul and I hope the financial situation improves soon.
