Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-2-2021: Days

6th February, 2021.

I have to admit, I started prepping up today’s Teaser post: at silly o’clock in the morning.

At the time?   There was a light on, in the station carpark, over the road from my flat.

Quite what workmen were doing there, I don’t know.

But it looked atmospheric.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor*, Mum†, Olga‡, Debbi^ and Edithª putting in their answers: with Olga, Trevor, and Debbi on five out of five, Edith on three and Mum on one.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        Going by graffiti in Pompeii, 6th February, AD60 is the first day in history where the day of the week is known.   What day, according to the graffiti, was the day: Sunday, Monday or Tuesday?

Q2)        In Latin, the name was what: dies Solis, dies Lunae or dies Martis?

Q3)        6th February, AD60 was the day of the week in Q1 and Q2: if we assume days started at sunset.   If we assume the day started at sunrise, 6th February, AD60 was a what: Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday?

Q4)        In Latin, the name of that latter day was what: dies Lunae, dies Martis or dies Mercurii?

Q5)        Finally … ?   A civil day is hour many hours long: twelve hours, twenty-four hours or thirty-six hours?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        5th February, 2020, saw the death of Kirk Douglas. His blog was hosted at which news side: the Sunday Times, the Huffington Post or the Dunny-on-the-Wold Pig Fertilisers Gazette?
A1)        The Huffington Post. (I believe he holds the record for being the world’s oldest blogger: you have to love that!)

Q2)        5th February is the feast day of Saint Agatha of where: Sicily, Marbella or Madagascar?
A2)        Sicily.

Q3)        5th February, 1914, saw the birth of William S. Burrows. What did the S stand for … ?
A3)        Seward.

Q4)        Charles 2nd was declared King of England and Scotland: on 5th February, 1649. By the Parliament of where: England, Scotland or Ireland?
A4)        Scotland. (He was only formally named so, by the English Parliament, in 1660.)

Q5)        Finally … ? 5th February, 1962, saw the birth of Jennifer Jason Leigh. She played Tralala in which 1989 movie?
Here’s a thought …
‘The year 60 is the first identifiable year for which a date is cited complete with day of the week.’
From the Wikipedia entry on AD60.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Didn’t you all descend on the Hutton, Trevor?   I seem to recall a LOT of Canadians with you, one day … !

†        Hello, Mum!

‡        We’ll have to see how the job goes, Olga: it would be nice to be able to save up for a new Mac!   I do know one of the references got in touch, last night: just to let me know she’d been contacted.   We’ll have to see.   (They’ve got new processors … but you knew that!)

^        Yeah, sensible’s not what you expect from a politician, Debbi!   (Oh, Joe Biden’s decided to not send security briefs to his predecessor: apparently, he’s too erratic … )

ª        Oh, my LORD, Edith, Dame Shirley!   Diamonds are Forever is one of THE songs!

I have to confess, I still can’t listen to Those Were The Days Of Our Lives, or watch the video.

Freddie’s death, not long after?

Give it too much of an emotional charge …

Good luck! The agency did get in touch offering me two other classes per week. They are two siblings, but the classes are separate and pretty nearby, so I'd save on transport. I have to confirm on Monday, but I hope it works out. I'll keep you posted.

I may have come into the Hutton with 3 Canadians Penny Patsy and Patsy’s straight friend Annie. If we went places we had to find a certain Seattle coffee shop for Annie. She had to have at least one of their coffees a day.

When Anita and I lived in Redhill we went down to Brighton to see Dame Shirley live. What a show and the outfits that she wore were amazing.

When Anita and I lived in Boston Manor west London our local theatre was the Palladium in the West End and I remember seeing Sir Tom Jones and many other acts there.
