21st March, 2022.
Right … It’s officially Monday: and the start of a whole new, and exciting, week.
One that’s going to involve an innovative, creative, use of time: and a lot of spendable cash.
Ha!
Who am I trying to kid!
It’s going to be more of the same.
You can possibly tell I’m not expecting much.
I do know I’ve got my nephew, over, this afternoon: which should be fun.
And possibly involve a video: you can tell, can’t you … ?
Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ and putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1) Namibia became independent: on 21st March, 1990. From where: the UK, South Africa or France?Q2) What’s Namibia’s capital: Windhoek, Walvis Bay or Swakopmund?Q3) Namibia has two currencies. The Namibian dollar is one. What’s the other: the Kenyan shilling, the South African Rand or the Zambian kwacha?Q4) The Namib Sand Sea is a Namibian World Heritage Site. It’s a what: coastal swamp, coastal desert or coastal fen?Q5) Finally … ? Oshikundu is a traditional Namibian drink. Made from what: corn, barley or millet?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 20th March saw the birth of director, Spike Lee. In which year of the 1950s?A1) 1957.Q2) Spike made Joe’s Bed-Stuy Barbershop: We Cut Heads as his Master’s thesis film, at film school. Which of his class mates was the assistant director: Bruce Lee, Ang Lee or Stan Lee?A2) Ang Lee. (Bruce Lee was a martial artist. Stan Lee founded Marvel. Neither went to film school with Spike. Nor are any of them related.)Q3) His debut film, She’s Gotta Have It, was released when: 1985, 1986 or 1987?A3) 1986.Q4) In Spike’s 1992 biopic, Malcolm X, who played Malcolm X: Denzel Washington, Wesley Snipes or Will Smith?Q5) Finally … ? The National Film Registry keeps a record of US films that are ‘culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.’ How many of Spike’s films are on that register: three, four or five?A5) Four: She’s Gotta Have It, Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X and 4 Little Girls.
Here’s a motto …
“Unity, Liberty, Justice.”Namibia’s motto.
And a national anthem …
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Yeah: that sounds about right, Olga: quote the expensive price first, then offer the cheaper ones … if the customer sounds like they’re going to hang up! (Some workers accommodation can be quite nice: there’s some former police houses near me, that go for pretty good prices.)
Hopeully, having access to the forms will help. As will, I suspect, my Job Centre case worker: she managed to chase up the relevant bodies, a couple of times.
And yeah: grandchildren (and nephews!) can be expensive. (Especially if they’re used to using iMovie.)
† Hello, Mum!
‡ My pleasure, Debbi, any time!
Oh, and doesn’t it just? I suspect that started when Patrick Troughton took over: keep your eyes peeled for the 25th, as a thought … ! The Feathered Serpent MAY be something to watch out for.
The Feathered Serpent concerns the struggle between kindly Emperor Kukulkhan, who follows the gentle old god Quala, the Feathered Serpent itself, and the evil priest Nasca (Patrick Troughton in one of his greatest roles), who follows the bloodthirsty new god Teshcata... pic.twitter.com/iXfdjM6NXl

Keep us posted, Paul, and wish my best to Jude. We watched a video about Sightseeing in London with Jordi, and he enjoyed it. When I advised him to read one about pubs, he told me he and his wife aren't drinkers, but I explained that you can also eat, and quite well, in some pubs.

Game of Thrones for nippers! Hmm ... :)
The animated Galaxy Four brings home for me how much Doctor Who started off as a children's show! Great work on their part, bringing it back that is.
