A3)        1972.

†        Usually, Olga, that’s why I suggest people write their answers with Word/TextEdit/WordPad/what-have-you: then copy-and-paste things over.   Blogger’s less likely to eat things, that way!

        :D.  I’d probably end up on Ubuntu, Olga: if it wasn’t for the mouse issue§!   At any rate … ?   I know Apple have business discounts: and are quite happy to offer bulk order discounts.   And are no worse at production than — say — Asus, HP or Dell.   (Dell’s gaming machine’s have a reputation for being expensive, as well.)

        But I think the important point is something easily missed.   We are — for the most part — used to  just the one operating system.   That makes networking them together a lot easier, and there’s more standard file types.   But when something like this happens, and everything falls over at once?   We see where it goes wrong.

        Just as a point … ?   China’s been relatively unscathed by the Outage: as the country is NOT as reliant on CloudStrike, or Microsoft Windows.   I know they do this for national security reasons: but think the net result is a little healthier.   They’re not reliant on just one thing.   (Apparently, Microsoft has an arms-length company running their services in China: I imagine that’s another layer of insulation.)

‡        I think I’be be happier being burnt to death, Debbi!   It’s that … or Christopher Lee’s heavy metal LP!
