Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th September, 2018

25th September, 2018.

Yep: I’ve got today — and tomorrow — off.

Given the finances?

That’s not something I’m entirely pleased about, as, to keep the weekly wages up, I have to use up my holiday pay.

Annoyed?

Yes.

I’m also STILL aware that next week’s rota has STILL not been posted.

I have alerted my agency, understandable, still convinced it’s a horrible mistake, still waiting to hear from the relevant manager …

We’ll have to see …

Post The Bodyguard?

Post The Bodyguard, the BBC’s News channel — or rather, Lizo Mzimba, the BBC News Entertainment correspondent — is given airtime to the premiere of The Woman Who Fell To Earth’s premiere, yesterday, in Sheffield.

I’d not’ve minded being at that.

At ANY rate, we’re getting coverage …

We’ve got an airdate …

But we still have no bloody story time … !

Annoyed … ?

Yes!

And FINALLY … ?

Apple have finally released macOS Mojave, the most recent version of its Mac operating system.

Which I managed to download, yesterday.

Download … but not yet install.

As I’ve got a couple of days off, the installation is something I can take my time over.

After I’ve done the usual back-ups, downloading of software, and what have you.

I’ve updated before now, am confident about doing these things …

But, as ever … ?

Am bloody nervous about it.

Wouldn’t you know it … ?

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 25th September is the feast day of Lancelot Andrewes.   He’s celebrated on the 25th, by whom: the Roman Catholic Church, the Church of England or the Ethiopian Orthodox Church?
Q2) 25th September, 1957, saw nine African American children escorted to school by troops.   In which Arkansas town?
Q3) 25th September, 1513, saw a force led by Vasco Núñez de Balboa become the first Europeans to sight the Pacific Ocean.   They were on the coast of which country, at the time?
Q4) The US congress named the Sequoia  National Park as a national park: on 25th September, 1890.   The park has a lot of trees of one particular species.   Which species?
Q5) Finally … Belize joined the United Nations: on 25th September, 1981.   It’s where: North America, Central America or South America?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 24th September saw the release of Nirvana’s best known album, Nevermind.   In which year of the 1990s?
A1) 1991.
Q2) Who produced the album?
A2) Butch Vig.
Q3) The best known single from the album was Smells Like Teen Spirit.   The song was named after a brand of what … ?
A3) Deodorant.
Q4) Spencer Eldan has an important role on Nevermind.   What IS his role?
A4) He’s the baby on the album’s cover.
Q5) Finally … ?   What was the highest position Nevermind reached in the UK album charts?
A5) Seven.
Here’s a thought …
“I don’t think it’s fair to compare Dick Cheney to Vader - it’s unfair to Vader.”
Mark Hamill, born September 25, 1951.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Oh, I don’t play the guitar, Olga: but I can get a noise out of a left handed one … !   I keep forgetting I know someone with three — or possibly four — different languages to hand!   Grammarly must be struggling to keep up …

†        You know, I wouldn’t even know where to start with Garage Band, Debbi!   WAY too complicated!   Says the man who uses iMovie, daily!   (There’s STILL no start time!   Arrgh!)

Q1) Church of England
Q2) Little Rock
Q3) Panama (And no, before you ask, as far as I know, we are not related…)
Q4) Giant sequoia
Q5) Central America
It seems particularly cruel the time thing about Dr Who, as they have advertised what time it will show in the US and Australia. Considering you all pay for the BBC... Good luck with the shifts and enjoy the time off...
