Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th December, 2018.

12th December, 2018.

Right …

I’ve officially had the interview, spent an afternoon in Covent Garden, and had a look around the place.

Oh, and had an interview.

Which seemed to go well: although I doubt I’ll get it.

I think speaking French would possibly be handing.

And, typical Brit, the only language I do speak is English!

If nothing else, though?

The actual venue for the interview — a specialist tea shop in Covent Garden — was an amazing looking place: looks of polished wood and marble.

Oh …

I also managed to make a quick visit to the Covent Garden Apple store.

Frankly?

I doubt I’ll get it: but wouldn’t say know to an iMacPro for Christmas.

On other fronts … ?

Prime Minister Theresa May is to face a vote of No Confidence, tonight: after the head of the Conservative Party’s 1922 Committee.

Effectively?

A leadership challenge has been triggered.

Can I, at this stage?   Ask the Tories what the HELL they think they’re doing?

With negotiations still on-going, this is NOT the time for this.

Frankly?

Given there’s still Brexit negotiations going on?

This is going to backfire: to the UK’s cost.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 12th December, 1956, saw the start of Operation Harvest: also called the Border Campaign.   It was a guerrilla campaign against targets in Northern Ireland: carried out by whom?
Q2) Which member of The Rolling Stones had a nine month prison sentence overturned: on 12th December, 1967?
Q3) Sigismund of Luxembourg created the Order of The Dragon: on 12th December, 1408.   Sigismund was then king of where: Austria, Hungary or Romania?
Q4) 12th December is Kanji Day, in Japan: when the Japanese vote for a kanji — a ideograph in of the Japanese alphabets — to represent the year.   The kanji for 2017, 北, means what: north, south, east or west?
Q5) Finally … ?   12th December, 1965, saw the birth of Rugby player, Will Carling.   Which code of Rugby did he play?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 11th December, 2017, saw the death of TV presenter, Keith Chegwin.   As a child actor, he made an appearance in Roman Polanski’s film version … of what?
A1) The Scottish play, itself, Macbeth‡.
Q2) Which Asian nation joined the World Trade Organisation: on 11th December, 2001?
A2) The People’s Republic of China.
Q3) Communist Red Guard organised an uprising in the Chinese city of Canton: on 11th December, 1927.   Canton is now called … what?
A3) Guangzhou.   (广州 in simplified Chinese, or 廣州, in Traditional Chinese.)
Q4) Indiana became the 19th state to join the USA: on 11th December, 1816.   What’s the capital of Indiana?
Q5) Finally … ?   Bill Wilson had his last drink: on 11th December, 1934.   Which shy self help group did he co-found as a result?
Here’s a thought …
“I’m not unmindful of man’s seeming need for faith; I’m for anything that gets you through the night, be it prayer, tranquilizers, or a bottle of Jack Daniel’s. But to me religion is a deeply personal thing in which man and God go it alone together, without the witch doctor in the middle.”
Frank Sinatra, December 12, 1915 – May 14, 1998.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Thankfully, I managed to get in and out, Olga: the grant from the Job Centre just about covered the cost of the ticket, which is what bothered me.   Oh … I bumped into this chap …

†        I’m mildly annoyed, Debbi, it has to be said.   I mean … 2020?!   Honestly!   Oh, here’s that photo of Maryland Station, again: feel free to nick it!   (Shame I couldn’t get out to wash the windows, but there you go …)

‡        As it’s been mentioned …

Q1) The IRA (Irish Republican Army)
Q2) Brian Jones
Q3) Hungary
Q4) North (the fact that the one for 2018 means “disaster” is not very cheering).
Q5) Rugby Union
Covent Garden is one of my favourite places in London. There's never a boring moment there. I hope everything goes well with the interview. And in the UK... Well, not sure what would be the best, to be honest. Here things are heating up also... Oh, we shall see.
