Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-12-2021: The United Arab Emirates

2nd December, 2021.

Yes: it’s Thursday.

Thursday.

Which means …

Well, several things.

But mostly that it’s the day after Wednesday: yesterday, in other words.

Yes: that’s the day I had a set of blood tests in the morning.

Two test tubes worth of blood: that’ll supply enough of my blood for six sets of tests, including a thyroid check, and a blood sugar levels: the ones I’m concerned about.

I hear about them in a week.

The OTHER thing, yesterday?

I had my official Covid booster jab.

So that’s done and dusted!

It’s all over, bar the soreness!

~≈¥≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum†, Edith‡ and Debbi^ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum and Edith on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        The United Arab Emirates was formed: on 2nd December, 1971.   The UAE is on the coast of what: the Iberian Peninsular, the Arabian Peninsula or the Bruce Peninsular?

Q2)        It’s made up of how many Emirates: five, six or seven?

Q3)        Name one of those Emirates.

Q4)        The UAE has an elected what: president, monarch or ayatollah?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The UAE’s currency is the what: Dollar, Pound or Dirham?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        December has 31 days.   Including December, how many months of the year have 31 days?
A1)        Seven.

Q2)        Name one of them.
A2)        January, March, May, July, August, October or December.

Q3)        December is the 12th month of the year.   It was which month of the Ancient Roman Calendar: the Tenth, Eleventh or Twelfth?
A3)        The Tenth.

Q4)        December are a musical duo from where: North Korea, South Korea or Japan?
A4)        South Korea.

Q5)        Finally … ? December is the last month of the standard calendar. Adar is the last month of which ecclesiastical year: the Hebrew, Islamic or Hindu? (I’ll stress it, again: the ecclesiastical calendar)
A5)    The ecclesiastical Hebrew calendar. Israel’s civil calendar uses the same months: in a different order: in that calendar, Adar is the sixth month.
Here’s a motto …
“النشيد الوطني الإماراتي”
“ʿĪshī Bilādī”
“Long Live My Nation.”
The UAE’s Motto.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s ten question Teaser.

The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        It went well enough, Olga.   The phlebotomist got enough blood out of me, the booster got done early.   Which — hopefully — means the soreness will wear off quicker.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Catalunya: the last thing it, and the rest of the country, needs, is more blessed COVID!
Um … actually, Olga: the boys AND the guys were both singing in America.   At least in the original film version!   The song’s an old favourite, and perfect to type to!
(The new version seems to have gone for a Bloods versus Crips thing going on: one gang’s wearing shades of red, the other’s in shades of blue.)

        Hello, Mum!

That’s OK, Edith: your health’s more important than my quiz!    I’ll keep tweeting it past you, though, as and when I can: that way, if your health and schedule allow, you’re still welcome to join us.

^        It’s a fantastic pice, Debbi, I know that much.   Did you know the Nice, the old Keith Emerson band, did a version of America?    It’s ever-so-slightly Doors-like!
Oh, and Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem did one too.   (Is it me, or is the only word I understood pf the Swedish Chef’s was linoleum?)

Q1) The Arabian Peninsula

Q2) Seven

Q3) Abu Dhabi

Q4) President

Good and fingers crossed about the test results. Yes, both boys and girls sing the America number in the movie version of West Side Story, but in the original theatre musical, it is only the girls who sing it, that's why I said there were differences between the two versions (I've watched the stage version as well).
